True.
Same with golf. Can you imagine what a 22 year old Jack Nicklaus could do with a modern day driver?

Heck, Bobby Jones REGULARLY drove the ball over 300 yards with a hickory shaft and a ridiculous ball when he felt he needed to do so.

This. Modern passing schemes are MUCH more refined, due to reacting to past defenses like the 85 Bears.

With the wide receivers being protected and not being able to be touched after 5 yards, the question is, "Could they have competed in the 70's (before '78) when bump and run coverage was legal?

There are plenty of players from the 70's & 80's that could complete today.

Players like Johnny Unitas, Jim Brown, Fred Belinikoff and Kellen Winslow could still compete today.

I love your Avatar. Space Ghost was a favorite show and Brak was my favorite character. Loved the 'Frank and Beans' song.

i would say about 20% could compete today. Speed is much more important today than in the 70's - 80's.

You own a hotel? And you let Indians stay there?

yes Basketball- Wilt & Jordan would still be the best at their positions Baseball- Nolan Ryan would probably have more strikeouts in today's game then he did Football- Joe Montana, John Elway, & Dan Marino would all still be all-pro
Wilt would be nowhere close in the game today to what he used to be.

Prime Jordan would absolutely still be great. He played not that long ago... he played until like 2002 and was still a great player then after he was "washed up".

Ryan would have less strikeouts in today's game. He would still be good, however. Hitting has improved. Pitching has improved greatly, and hitting has kept up with it for the most part.

Montana, Elway, and Marino would all still be great. The quarterback position hasn't changed a ton since then.

who on the Bears D line would be able to prevent Carl Nicks from pancaking them every single running play?

I'll hang up and listen

Dan Hampton probably. McMichael was somewhat decent.

There is not a chance in hell that the '85 Bears would beat the Saints today.

The Saints are 13-3 in the current NFL, and the Bears were 15-1 26 years ago.

Basically what some of you guys are saying is that if the 2011 Saints played in 1985, they wouldn't have won the Super Bowl. GTFO.

and again

im doing an exact comparison. If u had a time machine and scooped up the entire 85 bears and put them on the field as they were against the 2011 Saints, there is no fricking way they stop the Saints.

That's not to discredit how great theywere. But just looking at the 2 teams from a size/speed standpoint, they just don't match up

problem is, I don't think the Saints could stop Payton and would have the speed for Willie gault.

I disagree, but I still think it doesn't matter

Saints havent stopped a lot of running backs, still doesn't keep them from putting up 40 on teams.

You think the Bears can stop Brees from tossing 300 yards and 5 TD's?

Who covers Graham? Who covers Colston? Who was fast enough to cover Henderson?

Jordan would have problems in the 50s. They wouldn't allow him to take four steps without dribbling the ball.
