Why would Teddy Ballgame struggle? He had the greatest batting eye in history

Baseball superstars would have the least trouble adapting IMHO

Strength and conditioning programs are so much more advanced from the 70s and 80s to today it's ridiculous. There is no national champion or Super Bowl champion team that could win it today. Players in all sports are faster, stronger and better. Specialization is more abundant, also. Additionally, nutrition is more advanced and player musculature and rehab is more advanced. All records are being destroyed.

I think baseball is the one sport that translate best. I think players could compete in different eras. The sport is really unchanged. All other major sports have evolved much more.

Not saying they would or wouldn't, but you can't state that something is a fact without actual proof to back it up. I have no way of knowing but I think a offense with the weapons the Saints have would be the exact one that would give the 85 Bears fits. I say this and in my opinion the 85 Bears was the greatest defense in the history of football on any level. The thing is you just don't know, its pure speculation.

I think the athletes of the 70's and past could compete.

A 80s version of deion, bo jackson, herschel, marino, , rice, largent, could definately play today.

I think 70s and 60s version of oj and jim brown would still be elite players today

80s magic, bird, olujawon, mj, isiah, dr. J, would still be stars today.

Exactly. Teddy Ballgame was 6'3" 205. That's about the same size as many outfielders today.

Some sports like baseball are much more comparable across generations as compared to contact sports like football.

So, yes, I believe the 27 Yankees or 29 A's could hang today as they were.

I just played it on whatifsports and the saints won 20-13. I only played once and it was the answer.

why is PeeJ so shocked that the greatest offense ever might hang with or top the greatest defense ever?

Baseball...yes..still use wooden bats, base distances are still the same, pitchers aren't throwing much harder than back then. Ryan threw over 100mph in his day.

Basketball..same thing.

Football..no doubt todays atheletes are better than yesteryear..due mainly to year-round training, nutrition etc. Plus, IMO, football takes the least amount of talent to play on a pro level vs. baseball.

Look at golf. 50 year old players are just as good from tee to green thanks to technology. Its their putting that lets them down most of the time.

Ever watch film of Bob Cousy, considered a wizard with the basketball in the 50's, one of the all time greats? Todays high school players would humiliate this guy in his prime. Ballhandling skills were thought to be revolutionary. His footage looks like some comedy silent film.

If you directed that towards me, I've said nothing about basketball and wouldn't argue that point.

Players are bigger faster and stronger in hoops today. Look at a game from the 80s and compare the physiques. Hell, look at Shaq from his rookie year compared to his prime.

No, I just think it's fascinating, how some sports such as basketball, have evolved while others, like baseball, have remained fairly consistent over time.

Jerry Rice in his prime is better than any receiver playing the game today.
