The Chargers came back from a two-touchdown halftime deficit to beat IMG Academy 35-34 Thursday in Draper. IMG came into the game ranked as the third-best team in the nation by MaxPreps.

Corner Canyon has had a pretty good football team for a while. They've won multiple state championship and sending lots of guys to the NCAA. It's the school the produced Zach Wilson.

I'm sure nobody here cares, but it's big news in the HS football world.

There’s zero reason IMG should ever lose a game outside of a bunch of guys that don’t care to play. Their talent level compared to even the best HS teams is on a completely different level.

With the talent at IMG, if they lose a game, every college should write off all of their players. Maybe they were too busy thinking about their NIL deals to play some defense. Do they have codes on their helmets?

I'd bet Mater Dei has similar talent to IMG. Doing a quick glance, it looks like Mater Dei has around 15 4* guys. I'd guess that all of their starters and a handful of backups go P4.

Corner Canyon must have had talent in the right places and a much better "team". I know UW and Texas A&M are going after their QB hard, plus they have a 5* WR.

Elevation? Corner Canyon is at about 4,500' in elevation. IMG is at sea level.

On an unrelated note, their MTB team is outstanding as well.

Mater Dei is no different than IMG at this point. Not a real school

Do you know if anyone at Mater Dei stays with a local family or with coaches because they live in a different state (or somewhere like Fresno or San Francisco)?

I thought I read Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas was doing that.

They have players from all over the country now. I don't know how it all works. Honestly IMG seems more above board. At least there is no pretense that it's anything but a sports academy.

So is Mater Dei a sports factory like IMG and they just use the private catholic school as a cover up. Saw somewhere that the new coach who was at Poly a while back is supposed to be cleaning some of the stuff that went on last year. Will any of these schools ever be like DeLasalle was?

Agree to disagree. You are right they are incredible also, but they aren't on the IMG level IMO. At the same time, they maybe on a better level to actual win with fewer pre madonas.

Mater Dei is still largely local kids at least within driving distance. IMG is almost exclusively kids that move in from all over the country.

Mater Dei just happens to really rely on California dudes, the amount of talent near them is insane

Good. I love when these football factories (Curtis, WM, Barbe (for baseball) lose.

Just curious, how do you know this?

It blows my mind that people will just hop on here and say whatever they FEEL is right and act like it’s gospel without knowing what the hell they’re talking about

Have YOU looked at the rosters? I just took a quick look and almost all of the Mater Dei guys are from Cali. The IMG guys are from all over the country including Cali
