Conor McGregor said he went into last weekend's MMA trilogy against Dustin Poirier with "multiple stress fractures" in his left leg -- the same leg that broke in the final seconds of the opening round.
McGregor (22-6) lost to Poirier at UFC 264 on Saturday in Las Vegas. The official result was a TKO defeat at the end of the first round due to a doctor's stoppage. McGregor's lower left leg snapped as he stepped backward after throwing a punch at the very end of the round.
On Thursday, McGregor posted a video on social media in which he claimed the leg was already compromised going into the bout.

quote:

I was injured going into the fight," McGregor said via Instagram. "People are asking me, 'When was the leg broke? At what point did the leg break?' Ask Dana White. Ask the UFC. Ask Dr. [Jeff] Davidson, the head doctor of the UFC. They knew I had stress fractures in my leg going into that cage. It was debated about pulling the thing out."

UFC did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Nevada State Athletic Commission, which oversaw the contest, also hasn't yet commented on the matter.
In recent days, many have speculated about when the injury occurred. Poirier, who improved his record to 2-1 against McGregor, said he thought McGregor injured the leg when he threw a kick earlier in the fight. Poirier even pointed at the leg as soon as McGregor landed the kick. Earlier this week, McGregor's coach, John Kavanagh, claimed McGregor went into the fight with an injured ankle.
McGregor, 33, and his team said he underwent successful surgery on his leg Sunday, repairing fractures of his tibia and fibula. McGregor added via social media, "six weeks on crutch and we build back."

So now he is saying he lost due to previous injury?

Narcissistic people typically can't accept a loss. So no shock he is saying this. Great fighter with elite skills, just behaves and thinks like a horrible person.

I mean it would be pretty simple to verify. Doesn’t sound like BS to me.

No it snapped after he kicked poirier in the hip with it. He didnt notice it snapped until he put weight on it.

Just watch how gingerly he pulls it back after the attempted teep after he kicked poirier in the thigh area the kick before.

So his entire strategy in the first round is to leg kick the hell out of Dustin knowing he already had suffered multiple leg stress fractures going into the fight?

Just because he's an idiot, he really shouldn't assume everyone else is.

If it was hurt before, then why was his strategy to throw all those leg kicks?

Not really, if Dana said publicly Conor has stress fractures but he is still gonna fight my guess is it makes very little difference on ppv buys. This is on Conor and his team. You certainly don’t gameplan to throw hard arse leg kicks against a dude that trains at a gym that is known for drilling leg kicks big time if said leg is compromised

If he knew he had stress fractures in his lower left leg, why was he leading almost every exchange with a lower left leg kick? Seems he should have used a different tactic.

Frankly, I don't believe him. If he knew his lower left leg was already compromised he would have been using a different strategy, like kicking with his other leg or punching.

Poirer used his knee to block many of those kicks in the first round. That's what broke his leg.

Did he have fractures in his face too because Poirier was going to break it in the 2nd round

Yeah the way his leg broke this is believable, Conor should have pulled out of the fight, his leg wasn't ready.
