fun list. very dominated by that 2006-2012 era before realignment. that was probably my favorite era of college football.

late season losses by Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, WVU, Louisville, Kansas, Missouri, South Florida, Boston College and some others allowed the SEC to have a heck of a run in there. that was a lot of teams one shot to make it and may never have that lightning in a bottle again.

Because 2007 Arkansas and Pitt are comparable losses

Pat McAfee was the kicker that missed the game clincher.

Not college but as a Panthers fan nothing beats SB50.

How in the world could any Panthers fan say this and not Super Bowl 38?

Penn State was undefeated for two years in a row and finished #2 in 1969, even #3 behind 9-0-1 USC the year before.

Penn State was Independent. Joe Paterno let the players decide in 1969 where they wanted to play. They could have chosen the Cotton Bowl and played for all the marbles. The players said no.

“Undefeated in regulation” - 2007 Les Miles. That helped get us in.

In 1980 Delaware State loss to Portland State 105-0, despite having a longer time of possession. Portland State also beat Cal Poly Pomona 93-7 and Weber State 75-0 that season. Portland State coach Mouse Davis ran the Run and Shoot. Neil Lomax, the PSU QB, went on to play in the NFL.

How does the 2001 SEC championship not get mentioned, when it gave us this classic.

I love that the last great UTjr team played in the Citrus Bowl.

He missed two kicks that game. One 20 yards and the other 32 yards.

The black players voted no for the Cotton Bowl...this was 1969 and they had been treated like shite before in Texas.

They wanted to have a good time apparently in Florida.

So say the players on the team in a recent article...but the entire team was fractured on this issue.

Correct answer is Oklahoma State getting upset by Iowa State. If OSU wins that game, Alabama would’ve played in the Sugar Bowl

Researching that 2015 Ole Miss season and even though the articles most heartbreaking losses are full of missed chances at national championships, this loss for ole miss cost them their first and only chance at a conference championship game. Really disappointing loss for them in insane fashion to boot.

I'll add Arizona State's loss against Ohio State in the 97 rose bowl. Cost them a national title

Henry Jones...#2 West Virginia losing at home to Pittsburgh

It was the last game of the season and that loss kept them out of the national title game. It has to be at the top.

Buddy had a ticket for me to the game. He is a 'Neer alumni. I a fan. To dang cold....didnt go.......watched on tv. Laughed hard.

Most of those are great, but I don't know how they left out 5th Down and the Flea Kicker. Mizzou had those games won, and they were taken away in two very different, but excruciating ways. Plus Colorado and Nebraska ended up winning national championships after those respective games.

Two of the worst officiated games in CFB history.....and no real consequences.
