You can disagree with his rationale
He said USF has the best resume, he then says it wasn’t a bad loss for flrodia because USF is good, then preceded to rank Florida higher
He gave zero rationale for it. In fact everything he said was rationale for usf being higher

And they just let her dumbass, who I would put a large sum of money on she had never watched a football game before “covering” it, vote on who the best teams are. It’s insane
She "wakes up early" the next day after covering a game and then insinuates that she checks social media and lets it influence her decision because its "fun for discussion and probably doesn't matter in the end."
So she watches 1 game a week - which is the one she covers - and that's how she votes.
That's a terrible system.

You rank the best teams, not the best resumes

It’s like what’s happened to coaches ballots that just get passed down further down the athletic department hierarchy until someone has to fill them out. And she’s what, 30? As embarrassing as the notion of a bunch of Bob Ryan type voters acting like they’re on a mission from god is, they at least care and have some idea what they’re talking about. I mean I’m sure the LSU Advocate voter is a nice guy but he’s like 25. Why does he have a voice?
Haley Sawyer covers UCLA and high school sports for the Southern California News Group. She’s a Los Angeles transplant who has lived most of her life in Pennsylvania, where she got her start covering Pittsburgh high school sports and college hockey. Sawyer graduated from Robert Morris University in 2015 with a B.A. in communication. When she's not writing, Haley is usually at a boxing gym, ballet studio or teaching journalism at Cal State Northridge.
Once the CFP started I think AP figured out that their rankings niche was over, and now they don’t really hold their members to a standard anymore. Which is fine, but we should be throwing their datapoints out entirely now

Her voice is annoying af. I'd hit it, but only if she ranks LSU number 1.
This chick like sooo dreams of just being an influencer one day where she can just have a space to you know like speak her truth about the things she’s truuuly passionate about.

Dumbass male logic is still 60% better than dumbass female logic.
And she has no business covering college football.

So you're advocating for more subjectivity than objectivity? "Who cares about the actual results? I'm ranking the teams on who I subjectively think are the best....even if they don't win games".
Now, to be fair, there is a LOT more subjectivity in the early polls because there is very little comparable data to evaluate. That's why preseason polls are virtually meaningless. It's all subjective.
Either way though ranking Florida ahead of USF makes zero sense. Even if you don't think Boise St is a great team this year, you would be hard pressed to find ANYONE who thinks Long Island University (an FCS program) is better than Boise St.. At minimum, that's advantage USF for their win over Boise. Then, USF beats Florida....in Florida's stadium. So not only is USF 2-0, but both of their wins are significantly more impressive than Florida's 1 win AND USF beat Florida.
You may "think" Florida is the better team. You may "think" USF got lucky, or they couldn't do it again, or etc, etc,. But if people aren't voting on actual results then why even play games?

They just clipped Eastern Michigan, I will NOT stand for any Sharks slander in this thread

It’s pretty simple. Beat writers shouldn’t have votes. Their job is to cover their team, get interviews, write local stories. They aren’t watching a second of any of these other games.

Nah, it’s not that black & white. “Resumes” shouldn’t play a huge part in rankings after 2 weeks. Later on in the season, I’d definitely rank a 9-3 SEC team over an 11-1 AAC team.

What rationale did he have for ranking UF ahead of USF? I didn't see anything rationalizing that.

Wait..!that's a thing?
Love my sister, she loves CFB, watches CFB every Saturday (her school) , but I've heard her talk CFB many times with her girlfriends....
I don't want her and her friends voting in the oldest, biggest, Major CFB poll. There's a difference in understanding beyond casual viewing.
Do men no longer have any "man-spaces" left? Women are in every corner now and it wears cheap in sports media.

I acknowledged that there isn't a ton of objective data early in the season to evaluated...which is why any poll issued before, at minimum, early October, is basically useless.

In the discussion between USF and Florida, it is...because you have an actual head to head result after only 2 games. USF defeated Florida and, subjectively, beat an additional team who is much better than Florida's lone win. Yet, you have some voters ranking Florida ahead of USF based upon no rational basis whatsoever.
The expected response is "well, it will work itself out in the end." Maybe so, but to me, if you have voters who are so illogical now why would anyone expect them to be logical later?

Why do we care about a poll that created in 1936 for the main reason that no one could possibly watch all of the teams across the nation? You had to have a way to reasonably rank teams from Washington to Florida.
No we can watch every game of every team.
No we can watch every game of every team.

And the AP poll is still miles better than the coaches poll.

Their rationale is they still think Florida is better. I disagree with how they do their rankings but I at least understand it. The chick the OP is discussing probably didn’t even know that happened and just saw Florida (1-1), USF (2-0)
There are some AP voters who place a HUGE emphasis on power rankings, and Florida would still be favored if they played again this week.
Again, I don’t agree with it, what’s the point of playing the games if we’re just going to use power rankings, but that’s what

Koki Riley had Florida at #15
