The difference between them and Miami OH and FAU is meaningless which is why people lauding the SOS is silly. Those are all auto wins

i dont get why this is not common knowledge at this point. huge pet peeve. right up there with "well xyz has the worst loss so they will be lowest" while completely ignoring their wins.

not sure I understand. Baylor almost did this (RICE on the road) and the committee called them out for it

The committee called them out because the name of the school is Baylor, not because of the schedule.
I'm pretty sure Ohio State is ranked #1 right now because they're the only school that has both an elite defense and an elite offense. At least thats how it seems for now.

The committee isn't impressed by the win over Texas.

Get over it.

A win this weekend moves LSU or the Gumps up. This isn't difficult stuff, people.

You can't reason with LSU fans. It's like talking to a rabid dog.

I might be wrong, but I don't think the initial #1 in the rankings has ever won the national championship, so it's good that LSU is not in that position.

Correct.

In 2014, Ohio State was #16 in the initial poll.

2015- Alabama was #4

2016- Clemson was #2

2017- Alabama was #2

2018- Clemson was #2

The committee has been inconsistent over the years

Has it though? tOSU, Bama, Clemson, and OU have played in probably 80% of the playoff games over the last four years.

The committee likes blue bloods and Clemson.

That’s fine, but at least it’s consistent

It's funny that Clemson keeps getting ignored in these statistics. Clemson is at 3 in total offense and 4 in total defense. Even adjusted for strength of schedule Clemson is top 5 in both categories.

I don't care where they put us as long we make top 4 if we win out. Its as if everybody stopped watching Clemson after a terrible game against UNC. They have crushed all but one opponent and won all of their games, but it doesn't seem to matter.

This is why there needs to be an 8 team playoff with P5 conference champs autobids and 3 at-large bids.

The 3 at-large bids should exclude Conference Championship loser...making it actually a 13 team playoff with P5 Championship game being the 1st rd of the playoffs.

Yes...it rewards teams that didn't play a Conference Championship game...but it's not like that hasn't happened before.

Right and they are 5th. I would assume the 4 schools ahead of them are in a similar boat

Ohio State also got into a playoff over the big 10 champion Penn State because they beat Oklahoma in non conf play.

Nah they get in over Washington that year because of that. PSU was out because they had a second loss to pitt
