The committee sent a clear message that if you schedule all your non conference games at home vs non power 5 schools you will be rewarded

After this weekend, they’ll drop to 2 so no worries.

not sure I understand. Baylor almost did this (RICE on the road) and the committee called them out for it

Why do people continue to act like the playoffs started this year?

We know what the committee values already. It’s been 4 years

This is why there needs to be an 8 team playoff with P5 conference champs autobids and 3 at-large bids. Teams will then schedule big time OOC games because an early season loss doesn't kill you but you get rewarded for winning a tough OOC game for SOS. Also makes every conference race vitally important. More games would matter than just the handful at the top.

Even after 5 years we still don't know what the committee wants. Some years it's conference titles, others it's SOS, others it's the eye test.

The committee has been inconsistent over the years.

So just have the bcs pick the 4 teams instead of these dopes, at least there is a formula and it’s consistent.

If only there weren't more games to play?

People who cry about playoff rankings in the beginning of November have to be the biggest pussies on the planet IRL.

I just had a moment where I went to downvote someone but realized I already did.

Doesn't make a lot of sense

We have done very well by having a generally terrible OOC schedule in the SEC

Ohio State was left out of the playoffs because they played Oklahoma and has been left out of the BCS title game for games against Texas and USC in the past.

I wish we scheduled home and homes like they do. They got screwed by TCU (who was a top 10 team at the time of schedule) pulled out this year.

What exactly is wrong with the rankings. Top 5 are right or acceptable if you view anything objectively.. while LSU has more top end wins, Ohio St has played a better overall schedule and has been dominate. They punished teams even undefeated teams for weak schedules. That’s the takeaway from tonight. Have a good overall schedule

It’s almost like the committee is made up of different members from year to year.

Ohio State also got into a playoff over the big 10 champion Penn State because they beat Oklahoma in non conf play.

You mean the BCS formula that would have Ohio State No. 1 this week?

There are different rules for different programs.

Baylor needs to convince the committee they are good.

Ohio State needs to convince the committee they are not.

OP is whining because LSU played Texas and isn't getting enough credit (in his mind) for the "Top 10" win. Meanwhile, he conveniently forgets about playing FCS NWSt.

It is much more difficult to go undefeated facing a few top end teams than to beat twice as many average to below average teams. College football has always been that way.
