Shaving points in basketball has to be the easiest thing to do.
Oops, I missed a layup. Oops, I took a terrible jumper. Oops, I fouled when we were down 15 with :08 left.

Yeah. I have no reason to think the OP's post is inaccurate (or accurate), but the SI article doesn't mention McNeese at all. Given it's author is Pat Forde, who has ZERO love for Wade, you have to think he wouldn't hold back any information if he could, even loosely, tie a scandal to Wade.

Yea suspending 4 starters with no comment on why. Should have raised more flags for people but it's uno so no one cares.

I was just about to say the same thing. Where does it say anything about McNeese?

It doesn’t. OP said allegedly being investigated

Doesn't say anything about UNO or Southern Miss either.
Have heard about the UNO allegations. They suspended four starters. Don't think they have played again since.
Eta: Southern Miss just kicked it's most talented player off the team.

That’s not what this is. It’s a “bookie” or a “sharp” paying a player/players to fix the game so he wins a bet
From a coach's standpoint it depends on the "suspicious activity" of the player(s). If a key player is unexpectedly suspended or unexpectedly out with an injury, you can look at the coach. That's what happened with the dumbass Alabama baseball coach. He knew he was going to sit (ironically) Luke Holman in a game vs. Skenes. He disclosed that fact to a friend before the info became public who then tried to place an absurd bet on LSU.
On the other hand, it is very difficult for a coach to suspect a guy having a shitty game is doing so on purpose. Shitty games happen all the time. A few missed shot in at the end, a missed FT here, a late foul, can all be done to point shave without anyone noticing. It's MUCH easier to do so in basketball than any other sport.
It's the moron gamblers that screw up. Like trying to random place some large bet on a game between Longwood and Alabama A&M.

More often than not it’s just the players at lower level programs that are bad.
Will Wade isnt out there going 23-6 and throwing games at the same time.

Not historically.
"Headache" Smith was the player involved in the Arizona St scandal. He was a 2x All Conf. player and ASU's leading scorer at the time.
"Hot Rod" Williams was Tulane's best player when he was involved in the Tulane scandal (which basically ended the program for 5 years)

Kind of. Holman wasn't actually hurt that day (per his agent). And Bohannon had been betting on games for at least 3 years through his retard buddy that got him caught. He was apparently very bad at picking horses, so he was trying to make up.
And even still, Alabama had a chance to win that game and he put in a guy with like 2 ABs to pinch hit at a pivotal time late in the game.

lol I just looked and four of their five leading scorers haven’t played a game since 1/27
Wild.

too shave points you need the ball. Netflix did an untold on headache smith. One or two other guys on the team were in on it.
It was pretty easy for them to keep it within the number. Up 5 with 1 minute to go, brick a 3, or turn the ball over.
It wasn't going to kill their stat sheet

Currently I’d argue that’s the case. Years ago it may have been more high profile players and better programs. Obviously in the northeast years ago.
But none of the ones listed in this thread I’d argue as high profile CBB programs.
