1994 Playoff game in Cleveland at the old Metropolitan Stadium. Wind coming off Lake Erie , Snow in the stands temperature in the low 20s.new definition of sheer misery. Had on ski pants, long johns and lined jeans. Somehow the melting snow found its way through .

Growing up, there was a junior college where we lived. We would sit on the snow covered bleachers with blankets etc to watch football games.

So your arse was wet the entire game? That sounds awful.

LSU at Arkansas, November 1992. Below freezing the entire time, not one ray of sunlight. And both teams were terrible. It was one cold dark miserable day.

2001 GMAC Bowl
that was the game where East Carolina was up 38-8 on Marshall but Marshall won in double overtime 64-61.
when the game ended there weren't very many fans left in the stands. The wind made it a tough watch that night.
game that I played in would be in 10th grade. Played in Ladd Stadium same field as the GMAC Bowl game. We were playing B.C. Rain and once again because of the wind that night it was cold. I played special teams and made a tackle in that game and hit was brutal
I mean any solid contact and you felt it different that night.

No we had proper gear for snow.

Coldest game I was ever in was either @ Youngstown had lake effect snow in 2nd half, @ Montana just was flat out cold but the wind made it worse, or a home game vs UNI it was above freezing but it was raining and then started icing.
Coldest game I was ever watching was the playoff game Steelers @ Chiefs in 93 or so. It was miserable

Played Parkview Baptist in semi finals in high school in BR. Rained all day long while it was 35 degrees.
By kickoff it was 28 degrees and the wet sloppy arse field was a nice slushy mixture. Being wet while that cold was absolutely miserable. Didn’t help we lost 42-0

1996 I was in college at UW-Stevens Point playing rugby, that’s in Wisconsin. We would host “Arcticfest” and that was a weekend of rugby games involving clubs from schools from the upper Midwest. It was -23 air temp with heavy winds. Windchill would’ve been in the -50 range. It was cold. The same weekend we participated in a polar plunge fundraiser for the special olympics. So play a handful of rugby games in -50 windchills and when you were done jump into a river backwater for a swim. It didn’t suck, it was actually a damn good time.
In high school I played in a few “thunder snow” football games where we’d have snow but it was thundering and lightning. Those games happened every few years so it wasn’t an anomaly. Thunder snow just happened.
A decade or so ago I was moonlighting as a muskie guide in Wisconsin and there were a number of days where I’d take clients out fishing from a boat with air temps in the 20’s, stiff wind creating big rolling waves, and we’d have to bust ice at the launch to get my boat out. If the wind was strong enough and the clients were sheepish enough I’d have them tie themselves to boat seats while casting so they didn’t have to worry about falling overboard, usually did pretty well.

Personally played in? Maybe 1996. There was a cold snap and I think it was about 22 degrees. There were no warmers on the sidelines...or coats...or anything. It was sleeting. Miserable damn game. We were drinking hot chocolate rather than Gatorade.
I played DE and got knocked down on a play and one of the opposing team's guys stepped on my hand with his cleats. Felt like being stabbed with ice picks.

2000 Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa. Temp was 37 at kick, but it was the .ix of sleet and rain that made it feel so much colder than that. Plus it was an ugly 9-0 game so it was just all around miserable.
I was at that game as a pledge no less. My stadium cup froze to my tie at one point.

Army-Navy at the Meadowlands. Teens, but wind chill was much closer to zero. Awesome experience. Been to Iron Bowl & UT-Ags. Have to say this was the best rivalry & tradition I’ve seen by far.

That would be Municipal Stadium. Metropolitan Stadium was in Bloomington, MN.
