Forget the game, and whether it was right or wrong.

The fact is that his BOSS took steps to temper a situation, and this coach blatently and publically refuted his boss's stance. That will get your arse fired whether you Coach girls or work at McDonalds.

I don't really feel sorry for him. Not many of us can get away with that in the real world.

To me as a player it would be much more embarrassing for the other team to quit playing because they felt sorry for us than to run up the score.

Well you would have been embarrassed, then. They stopped scoring with 4 minutes left in the game, after they got to 100.

It looks like to me he was fired because he wouldn't apologize like the headmaster wanted him to. I say good for him. If they want him to coach apologetic basketball then let them hire John Brady.
Listen, I am all about a team playing hard, but come on 100-0. That's absurd. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED!!!

Yeah that's the bottom line. I don't think what he did was that bad(the game) and I'm one of the lead spokesman for stopping this pussification of America, but when his superiors tried to damage control the situation(regardless if it should have happened or not) he should have just got in line and did what he was asked to do. He got fired for insubordination more so than breaking the scoreboard on some retards.

if I was refing that game, I would have made sure the other team went to the line as many times as needed to put points on the board. There would have been some ticky-tack fouls called in the 2nd half of the game

you would be one shitty ref

Is it any less humiliating to lose 56-0?

No way should the coach have been fired. At least his team learned work ethic, preperation, and teamwork as opposed to the losing team that was taught to lie there like a bitch and take it like a bunch of quitters.

The other shouldn't have even fielded a team.

Anybody mention that the other team only had 8 players as well? I said this in another thread, if the losing team hasn't won a game in 4 years and hides behind their "special needs school" tag then they have no business putting a team on the court...this goes along with only having a pool of 20 girls to chose from in the whole school.

The coach would never have been put in a position to publicy defend himself which got him fired if the national media didn't decide for whatever reason this daily 80+ point high school girls blow out warranted national coverage.

I truly beleive if the score would have been 99-0 or 106-4, this would have been a non story. The fact that it landed on magic numbers 100 and 0 made it a target. IMO FWIW GFY

The team that scored 100 was beaten 84-6 a couple years ago. Nobody cried then. And the team that got beat this time around was not whining. They said they respected the better team and hoped to learn from them. With that said, the coach was insubordinate. That's why he was canned.

The losing school hasn't complained about the game. And, they've gone out of their way to state that their students are not "handicapped" or "learning disabled".

Heres a Q for ya then, why did the principal even allow the school to schedule with such a weak (we need your love and tender treatment) opponent? Why was the game not scheduled for half the normal time, apparently these poor poor students had ADHD anyway?

1.) It was a district game. Part of TAPPS.

2.) "Love and tender" ... Where have you heard about the losing school complaining at all. Hint. They haven't. They've been a great group of kids. I don't see where they deserve your snide comments.

3.) "Poor, poor students". Where do you get the idea they are "poor, poor students"? What does that have to do with the ability to play basketball. From what I have learned about the school, they are quite capable students.

I think you are getting him confused with one of the Capitol girls coaches. They have been beating teams like step children for years with similar scores to the Dallas scores.
