Why do people always act surprised when a small school that only has like 7k undergrads per year doesn't have a fan base that can fill a pro stadium up?
The vast majority of fans of colleges either went to or are related somebody who went to said school as an undergrad.
You aren't ever gong to have a huge fan base at a school like Duke. They'd have to quadruple the enrollment at a minimum to even begin to create a large traveling fan base.
