CBS Top College Football Coaches

Do you think they got it right? I think Kelly should be higher on this list.

I wouldn’t have Franklin in the top 10 and I’d have 3-6 be

Harbaugh
Kelly
Dabo
Riley

Come back after Coach Kelly gets another season or two.

The first 3 have multiple titles so I'm fine with them being there and after that, it doesn't really matter. Kelly is an elite coach and LSU is in good hands.

Riley continues to be overrated.

I think Lincoln is a great coach but way overrated here.

He has been a HC for 6 years.

1-5 in bowls.
0-4 in the playoffs. Including 1 double digit loses and a real arse kicking in his last one.

Losing to Tulane at USC too.

Can’t argue with Saban Kirby Dabo up at the top. Winning multiple NCs and playing for more. I think Harbaugh and Kelly are about level.

May be a hot take, but I think Luke Fickell is a better coach than Ryan Day.

What is the national media's obsession with Lincoln Riley outside of the fact he coaches for media darling USC?

When I think of Lincoln Riley I think of 2 things:

- Getting absolutely smoked by 2019 LSU in the Peach Bowl
- Losing to Tulane in the bowl game last season (who almost beat him while he was at OU too)

You're aware they're not basing this on a single season at LSU right?

Someone was on Russillo's pod last year talking about Riley and how he recruits. It's all about speed and finesse and he just doesn't recruit the trenches well at all, and that eventually comes to a head.

I think Fickell is a great coach but I’ll say this. Both Fickell and Day took over excellent OSU teams.
Fickell went 6-7
Day went 13-1 and went to the playoffs.

We'll all find out this season and in a few more how great he is, what with the "Abundant of Riches" OL's that Wisconsin has every year........

The only names that should be on the list are

1. Saban
2. Smart
3. Swinney

You can't be a top coach without winning a championship, I don't care how many regular season wins you have compiled!

Winning a NC does not put you on the list (Jimbo/Mack) but it is a requirement IMO.

He's kinda really carving out a resume of that hotshot coordinator/recruiter who lacks that something as HC. See Kiffin at USC and any of his HC gigs...Raiders, etc...and see him as Coordinator/Recruiter under Carroll/Saban.
