Probably the best year ever by a school playing in the highest class.

This is 100% incorrect, several 4A and 5A school before the split (especially for girls) sports have had more impressive athletic school years. Even Catholic has done better in the past, there were seasons where they swept all 3 track/CC seasons while winning 3 or 4 other state titles.

And now with the split anything worse would almost be a disappointment.

Yeh man, CHS is giving free rides to the baseball, lacrosse, soccer, and tennis studs that won those state titles.

Public school people are so fricking excuse making. It’s what plagues the entire state for anything govt related. Excuses.

And that’s coming from a proud public school parent right now

Aren’t football and baseball the only split titles? They beat a few powerhouse publics for state titles.

Name them. Catholic finished top 3 in 12 of 14 sports? That is pretty good.

Didn't realize that typing in a forum needed an editor before it was posted.

Great year for them. Funny how public school people say they aren’t real championships when you wanted the split and Catholic always voted against the split. They are just making the most of the situation.

This.

Norman Booker was so pro-public schools, he guaranteed privates and Catholics could win five state championships every year in the big sports, as opposed to the chance that they could have won 0.

Catholic had the best football team.

Baseball didn’t have the best year, but St Amant almost won 5A. Catholic could have.

The rest of the championships weren’t split. They beat 4 publics in the soccer playoffs. Track and tennis were combined too. Lax is open, but only a few publics playing.

LAX is not an LHSAA sport...there are 14 schools in the whole state with teams.

This. Congrats to the kids and coaches. It makes me smile knowing that the split that the public schools consistently vote for has resulted in more championships for Catholic High. Which in turn has increased visibility across the area for Catholic and now even more of the kids that the public schools think they own end up choosing to go to Catholic. Well well, you played yourself.

No LHSAA? That makes it more legitimate.

LHSAA D1 has 11.

Congrats catholic university.
You’ve all but guaranteed the average athlete that grows up going to the catholic elementary schools will have zero chance at playing any sport at this college that recruits the entire area for every single sport.

They do though. I don’t have a dog in the fight as I don’t care much about high school sports in general, but you’re kidding yourself if you think a lot of those guys pay 12k a year.

They were the 12 seed in the combined power ratings.

After the 1st round, they would have had to win at Zachary and at Sulphur just to get to Sulphur, where they would have had to beat St. Amant and West Monroe.

And you're and idiot if you think they don't.

The vast majority of the kids in those sports won't meet the financial need requirements for whatever assistance the school may offer.

They're not recruiting for the swim, golf, lacrosse, etc. teams very much if at all. It probably comes down to many football players, and impact players in baseball and maybe basketball.

They also won the CSAA 8th Grade Basketball Elite 8 Championship. Need to add that to the list.
