OP asks "career year in final season?"
Every response is some superstar who had a pretty decent year in their final season. Surprised no on has said "Durr Michael Jordan average 20 ppg in his final season"

I'll throw in Luke Kuechly

Yeah there are very few of these. Even guys who retired early in their prime mostly didn’t do it off a career year that I can think of. Luck is the only one that came to mind and even that’s debatable whether it was the best year of his career
Unfortunately the two that come to mind are Sean Taylor (not a full year obviously) and Drazen Petrovic, two guys that died in their absolute prime

Jana Novotna
Career of choking in Wimbledon finals, lost one time up 6-4, 5-0 (40 love) (famous picture with the dutchess) then finally wins one and calls it quits

Favre in 09. I think he retired the next year?

Nah, diehard Panthers fan here. As amazing as Luke was, he played scared his final couple of years, because another blow to the head would've turned him into a vegetable. Plus, moron Tepper forced the Panthers to transition to a 3-4, and Luke was as pure of a 4-3 linebacker as there was ever.

Peyton was such a shell of himself he got benched for Brock Osweiler and has an argument for being the worst Super Bowl winning quarterback in history.
That AFCCG remains the largest lost wager of my gambling career. I had a ton on the Patriots. Steven Gostkowski's missed XP oddly changed the game even though it happened 2Q if I remember. Pats lost by a point.
Broncos defense was so good but Pats win that game 8 out of 10 times.

The last two years of Tiki Barber's career were probably his two best.

Jim Brown retired after an MVP season

Barry Sanders almost did the same thing. He followed up his 2,000 yard MVP season with a 1,500 yard season, then retired.

You can tell your grandkids about those. I’m sure they’ll love stories of what used to be

I know a Cubs fan isn’t talking about organization decision makings.

Doesn't count i guess but Curtis Martin had his best year the year before his last season (his last full season)
