And as far as Marmol, something needs to fricking happen
What did he say recently? The only reason their start is a big deal is because everyone watches St. Louis because they are always winning?
I wanted to punch him.

Ok. We’ll just have to agree to disagree. I think it’s an average team that had a great year last year & benefited from a dumpster fire of a division

I mean I also think it's an average team You're ignoring half of their roster/my argument

The crazy thing is the offense is still 13th in MLB in OPS and 10th in average and 7th in hits.
20th in runs.
Maddening.

I’m not ignoring them. I think edman & nootbaar are good ballplayers. I think Donavan & Carlson are average-ish. Willy’s best days are behind him & his intangibles behind the plate are lacking to say the least. Walker will be a stud at some point I’m sure, but him claiming the ROY he was being handed will be kinda hard from AAA. And then he can allow them to DFA O’Neill so he can pursue his Mr Olympia dreams

There are these guys who throw ball who are also pretty important

You really wanna talk about that shitshow? Lol. I didn’t think that needed addressing

He'll make it through the season. Mozeliak was preaching patience just a few days ago.

Does the team even like Marmol? I thought it was "interesting" how he publicly dealt with O'Neil and couldn't imagine that would endear himself with the rest of the team. Like, he comes across as a tough love kind of manager but it's falling flat.
And no, I don't think Yadi would be a good choice either. They need to hire from the outside badly.

I get a pretty good sense that a lot of the players do not like him. I think there's been tension with a couple ever since the O'Neill debacle.

No mention of Biden? He deserves to be impeached!

Possibly, although Mo'ron wants a shill as manager, so the guy will play who he wants played. Larussa would go to owner over stuff, and get his way, Mo'ron wants none of that stuff no more.
Last manager was fired over not playing contracts over ability. When they are paying a guy mid to 10millions, they want him played, regardless of how he's hitting or playing.
This is actually best thing that could happen, karma for their shite plan, of just getting in. No, not be the best, just get in to playoffs. There are no carpenters, pujols, edmonds, etc on this team, just getting in isn't going to cut it.

yes, tardling, every fan base should boo, when a franchise puts out this shitty of a roster, and claims they made big moves.
They are lucky the fans are sheep to this team. they deserve much worse from fans. 3+million nearly every season(2nd to dodgers in MLB), and they trot this garbage out, as money spent and a quality side, lolol.

This team had a very below average starting staff
This teams offense was average, no pujols to cover their arse, or shite division to save it. (pujols carried them last 2 months). They put their whole offensive plan on young players being very good mlb'rs, with zero notion they ever could be.
And bullpen was smoke and mirrors, always that hard line drives went to guys, now those hard hit balls are finding holes. Rag arms but maybe 1 or 2 in pen.
The blue plan by owner is a big "frick you" to fans. It's not to have best team, its to just make it into wild card spot, you never know.
The wild card teams who won the world series for cardinals had pujols, edmonds, carpenter, molina, etc. Those were a very good team, not a just got in team.
I've been to 5 home games so far and had to watch this garbage.

Was a curious hire from the start after a curious firing.

I know this will not go over well here, but there is a reason why Willson Contreras was not retained by the Cubs.
I said as much at the start of the season and it was dismissed.
There was a reason he caught less and Dh'ed more last year and it was not for rest. The pitchers to a man all preferred Gomes catching their games. Hell, throwing used to be his strength and he was bad at even that the last couple of years with the Cubs.
Yes, he has a good bat....for a catcher. But not for a DH which he did a lot of last year, and it's streaky as hell.
I have a buddy who still bemoans not re-signing him, but we just don't talk about it cause he knows I disagree.
Now, how much of this has to do with the Cardinal pitching woes I don't think you can quantify it or even say with any certainty it's a significant factor. But to your point - yes, there's a reason the Cubs let him go without a fight it's his game calling and other defensive factors that Ross as a catcher saw and did not like.

They should have fired him on the spot after he put Tyler O'Neill on blast publicly for not hustling when the real problem was an awful send by his third base coach.

Might be a good time to hack back into the Astros scouting software and see what they can come up with.

Why did you guys give up your last manager. I cannot remember his last name but I believe his first name was Mike. He came up thru your farm system and was good. I’m a Cub fan but St Louis is good for baseball.

Well.. The saying is "best fans..."
But it sorta goes with saying the cowboys are "Americas team" .. because it's kinda true but exaggerated.
The actual best fans in baseball are the dozen or so that show up faithfully to watch the As
I look at booing as.. yelp review before yelp existed.
