Do you think the Phillies are getting a good return on their investment so far?
He is a special case. He is a good player, but he is immensely overrated. A lot of his value is buried in his indirect ability to sell tickets/merchandise. He will keep the Phillies at the forefront of any conversation about him.
So to answer your question I think the direct ROI isn't easy to calculate at this point. That contract was more about the overall value than his on field value in my opinion.

5th this year.
More butts in the seats, more merchandise, more exposure.
This.
So far, very worth it.

Bump.
Halfway through May, Bryce has dropped his average down to .220 and only added 1 homer. Last 7 days he's batting .150
His WAR is .4 according to baseball reference
Edit: He's 38th in on base %, because he is still walking a ton, so he is still getting on base

As has been stated, from a $$ standpoint, he was worth it. I tried to make this case about why the Braves should have given him whatever he wanted.
From a baseball/winning today standpoint:
Bryce (11.5 mil followed by a bunch of years of 27 mil): .220/.368/.433; 0.4 WAR; 7 HR, 25 RBI
Markakis (4 mil + 2 mil buyout for next year with 2 studs ready to join Acuna in the OF): .293/.388/.453; 1.4 WAR; 4 HR, 23 RBI

It's crazy when you think about it. Guy is absolutely loaded with just a GED and one year of community college under his belt.

As of now Philly is averaging 8,580 more fans per game than in 2018. According to Forbes, Philly averages $43 per fan in the stadium.
That’s about $369,000 per game and over an 81 game home schedule it’s roughly $29.9mm, so for this year at least, I’d say yes, he’s providing a decent return.

Every year I would have to purchase the MLB package to see the Phillies play. ESPN and MLB network are showing so much more of their games that I didn't even need to this year.
