So I'd say that you have an odd idea about the progression of society.

Bonnie and Clyde, good or bad, were metaphors for rebelling against authority at a time (the Great Depression) when the government and institutions were reviled by vast swaths of the American population. Today, large segments of America are obsessed with a 14 year old boy because his father can dribble a basketball. So yes, I'd say our society has regressed in that regard.

Not really. That's .2% of people in America and that 1 million is definitely not exclusively Americans so it's even less than that. Also, following someone on Instagram doesn't mean they're necessarily obsessed with that person.

This speaks volumes about where we are as a society and it ain't good.

Or it speaks to the fact that following someone on Instagram is one of the least complicated least intrusive things you can do it life.

I mean are you really judging the state of society by Instagram? There are at least 20 people on Instagram I follow that I pay 0 zero attention to whatever they post.

For not embracing the idiocracy that is social media and its obsession with celebrities, most of whom have nothing of note to say? If that makes me stupid, put me on the short bus.

Imagine you're in Ancient Egypt and you tell the villagers you don't want to follow the boy Pharaoh. I imagine it'd be the last thing you say.

Imagine you are 14 years old and you can maybe see a picture posted by another kid who is Lebron James' kid if you press a button with no commitment.
