The NFL should kill the Rooney Rule. It was an attempt to get minorities into the hiring process. It's now being used against the NFL and makes them vulnerable to a lawsuit.

Flores' complaint is that someone was already pre-selected for the job. That isn't illegal. And, it shouldn't really be unexpected if someone happens to hit a homerun in an interview before you have yours.

This makes a lot more sense why Flores is having trouble landing a job. Supposedly he had a bunch of issues in Miami and now this.

I love when the nfl is in a scandal though

i'm basking in the glory of this not involving the saints organization.

although, gayle benson probably just received a fax from Goodell saying "YOU HAVE TO HIRE A BLACK CANDIDATE OR ELSE...."

Don’t worry, there’s some sportwriter at deadspin whose already added this to their copypasta footnote about the pats that outlines how devious and dirty they are to any related Pats story

When you get fired from one job and it doesn’t look like you’ll get hired for another

Flores in a non clown world would have just fricked over Minorities big time.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Suing over not Rooney-ing hard enough when they don't even have to do that, legally.

He won't need a job if these allegations are true; he'll have tens of millions rolling in to settle.

Why would Bill know how Daboll got the job before any media members is my question?

Well, it sounds like we have some work to do, then.

Flores also said the Dolphins told him he would get $100K for every loss he got in 2019 and they were mad when he started winning

Maybe I’m missing something, but didn’t the Giants comply with the Rooney Rule? They interviewed Patrick Graham last week. I think someone else too?

ETA: And Leslie Frazier

Probably because they are friends (Daboll coached in NE) or Bill is connected and knows people. Not unreasonable to think he does know a person or two in the Giants front office.

You don't think the owners talk to other owners/GMs/Coaches to discuss other guys in the league? I would guess someone called BB on Daboll and BB said he was a great guy and would be great for them and they replied "he's our main target" or something to that effect

Ummm...didn't the Giants interview their black defensive coordinator before they interviewed Flores? Aka, the Rooney Rule was already met before they interviewed Flores.

He's no doubt way more plugged into the NFL than any reporter especially with the Giants, who are still owned by the same family from Bill's time there.
