I’m more bothered by Lundhow not trusting his players to pan out and they end up being great players that the Astros need
JD Martinez instead of Evan Gattis
Josh Hader instead of Tony Sipp
Foltynewicz instead of whoever
Astros could have been so much better

There has never been a point in Correa's entire career where he has put as much fear in me, as an opposing fan, as Bregman does every time he steps in the box.
Bregman is the best player on the Astros. Altuve scares me the second most, but he is a little too much of a free swinger.

I think Altuve would scare me most.
But make no mistake, Bregman is a pro.
Just as an aside, within a year difference, LSU could have trotted out Bregman, Nola, and Gausman on the same team.
That’s insane for a college team.

Just simply not true.
But I get it, you're an LSU fan and Bregman went to LSU, so I'm sure a lot of folks here really want to believe that.

He has absolutely been the Astros MVP this year

I fricking hate Bregman.
Hated him at LSU and hate him now. He is an odd guy, and has some extreme douche bag tendencies. Even more than the average baseball player.
But he is the best position player on their team. Has been all year, and it's really not close.

He's a better overall player then the MVP?
This year? Ok. But best overall? Nah.

Safe to say at this point that Bregman has had the better career. Correa has never been on a tear near the likes that Bregman has been on since June.

I like the Correa/bregman comparisons. But there is some serious tomfoolery LSU homerism going on in this thread if people think bregs is better than Altuve. Dudes got a lifetime .317 avg and bregs hasn’t even had one year over .300 yet including his current tear.
Jesus people, JA has hit .338 and above 3 times and has had 200 hits for 4 straight seasons.
I love bregs but he’s got to get even better than he is now to be called the best on the team

Bregman's OPS+ for this season is 162, Altuve's is 134. Bregman's career OPS+ is 139, Altuve's is 126.
Altuve has also been playing longer. Bregman is just now coming into his own as a major league player. It's not unreasonable to think he will be better going forward, and I think it's a fair argument to say Bregman has been the Astros best hitter this year. If he keeps hitting like he has been the past 3+ months, he could easily finish with a .300+ BA, 30 HRs, 50 2Bs, and 100 RBIs

Okay. That isn't refuting the OP or confirming it.

Correa still has a higher ceiling for sure, Bregman has had the better season
Correa the better career, thus far, but Bregs is catching up quickly

3-4 more years at that pace and he could be considered better than Altuve. Jose has been .313+, 40+ doubles, 30+ stolen bases, 85+ runs, and an ops above .800 for 5 years in a row. With an mvp thrown in for good measure. Maybe Bregs gets there, that would be amazing as an Astros fan, but history and statistics say he won't.

Bregs goes on a post all star game tear and now he’s better than Altuve?
Dude take the last three months out and he’s a .260-.280,15-18hr, 70 rbi career type of guy.
Yeah he’s having his first great half a season. Altuves done that for the last five years.
Yeah bregs has that high ops+ one season, altuve has averaged a 142 for FIVE years
I get bregs is on a tear but the MLB landscape is littered with dudes that tore it up for 80 games and then returned to their same old numbers
Also Altuves avged a 6.2 WAR for five years. Bregman has over six for the first time this year at 6.7.
Let’s see him do it continually first before we say he’s better than the Reigning MVP.
I’m not saying he can’t duplicate what he’s doing now for a whole season and for a few seasons in a row. He just hasn’t yet.
And don’t misunderstand, I WANT him to be better than Altuve. I’m totally okay with eating crow on this. I just think it’s a little premature.

I agree on bregman/Correa. I think you can start making some statements that bregs could be better and could have a better career. Their numbers are similar.
The big difference is Correa started doing it the day he was called up and bregs was slow to start and is coming on strong in year 3

So if you remove more than half of the season, he looks average? Do the same for Altuve. These types of arguments are so lame.

If they swapped positions they would both be better players.
Right now Bregman. More versatile, better hitter.

You’re being obtuse for no reason. I can take any number of half seasons that Altuve has put up in the last FIVE years and I still have a .330 24hr 90 rbi type guy for the other 4.5 years.
This whole argument is stupid and not backed up with facts. Bregs isn’t in the ballpark of Altuve yet. He could possibly be. We see
