That’s ridiculous. He’s got to sustain success for more than 1 season for that

Dude Bregman is slashing .288/.389/.539 with 20 HRs and 64 RBI at the ASB (after a very slow start to the year) and plays a much more important role defensively for his team in this era. Pedroia racked up hits and has a tremendous BA but he's not some untouchable player. Also did you switch your comment to "peak"?

My post always said “peak” that was in there before my edit.

When someone says
quote:

I see Correa being a somewhat poor man’s A-Rod with Bregman potentially being Dustin Pedroia

They’re obviously talking about his entire career. They’re not saying they see Bregman being current day Pedroia

My b, I thought you were saying for his career. I wouldn't say "comfortably" then.

Edit: right and I mean "career," not peak. Bregs has more power and doesn't play 2nd.

Bregman hasn’t sustained success long enough to have had a better career than Pedroia.
And Pedroia won an MVP at his peak.
The only way you can say Bregman is comfortably better than Pedroia is if you’re talking about this past year and a half

Bregman is better than Pedroia was on average for his career. He's also better (albeit not comfortably) than him on wrc+, and likely WAR,than Pedroia's MVP year by the end of this season.

Once again, Bregman has to sustain it. If he has a bad year next season, then those numbers will be in Pedroia’s favor.

Obviously he doesn't play second... but we didn't know Bregman had this kind of power until recently.

He had 13 homeruns after 82 games when I made that comment in this thread. And what prompted the thread is the fact that he hit a homerun in 3 games in a row. So 3 days before this thread he had 10 homeruns after half the season.

Nobody predicted that he would go on to be leading the Astros in homeruns through the next 16 games into the all-star break.

But it's still really early in Bregman's career, so we really don't know. He may just be having a great year with his power like Altuve randomly did last season. We just don't know yet.

He reminded me of a player like Pedroia because they seem to have the same mentality about the game, farily small, can hit the ball, didn't have a ton of power I thought, scrappy, and comes through in the clutch. It's not a perfect comparison, but that's the player Bregman most reminded me of.

Is scrappy a synonym for small because nothing about Bregman’s game has every been scrappy to me.

To me it just means somebody who has a lot of fight and is a mentally tough person. They never shy away from the moment and they live to make great plays in tough spots because they love the game.

It's an attitude and approach. It's like the equivalent of a basketball player who is all up in everyone's shite on defense, dives for loose balls, is tough on the glass, and is doing anything and everything to win the game. People dislike Draymond Green, but he is a scrappy player.

I know the name and knew he was a pitcher in the all-star game... but that's about it.

Sorry if I didn't keep up with a Brewer's relief pitcher who made his MLB debut in 2017.

Yeah, I don't follow baseball religiously. I watch my team religiously, but don't follow the league as a whole like I do with the NBA.

He's in the National League. If he was in the American League, I would have more knowledge about him. But I don't pay much attention to the National League because my team rarely plays the Brewers.

They live to make the plays and they love the game.

That's why Ogeron will succeed.

Bergman is different now.
It's great to see.
I hope he can.maintain.
People are bouncing throws at him.soon.
