I just moved to BR and noticed the memorial football stadium. It kind of looks abandoned. Do people still use it?

Capitol High used to play their home games there…I’m guessing they still do?

And yeah…it has looked like that for forever

Speaking of Memorial, why hasn’t Catholic built their own stadium? I’m sure they have the money to do that.

No room for parking on campus. They put together a lot of money to purchase and revamp Memorial and make it really nice, but SWB shot it down as gentrification or some other bullshite.

Memorial host HS every Friday night, and youth football every Saturday and Sunday. Then says locked up until the next Friday.

Olympia Stadium is better.

In the 70s the Boy Scouts used it at least once for a Jamboree and filled it with water and had boat battles. It was epic.

Better is a relative term because Olympia is also a shite hole.

Surely they could buy a plot of land somewhere around BR, and put a stadium and parking lot. They already play away from their school, so a new stadium wouldn’t have to be at their school. It was just something I think about sometimes. I’m sure they could build a pretty nice stadium too.

Thought I heard a story about buying those apartments adjacent to the school and razing for parking. I may be misremembering though.

It's what they should do.

They could "cap" the canal between the Apts and the field and put the stands on top of that.

Never saw a game at Memorial. It looked old from the freeway, but I assumed it was dated. What’s so bad about it?

To see great high school football stadia, go to Texas. Seems every town has a great stadium, artificial turn terrific lights and great parkins

Unless Catholic is playing, the place pretty much IS abandoned. Captitol, Mentorship, Madison Prep, and a few other schools play there and draw almost no crowd.

The school close by had bars on the windows 40 years ago, but from playing on it back then in a very memorable OT playoff game, there's no room out the back of the endzones

Catholic does NOT have any room to build a stadium. They use Memorial for all home games.
