Believe it or not, Yunel's attitude didn't cause this team to not play hard did it?
I think maybe that was a big reason for the trade actually. This is a good team. You can tell they all get along and they all play hard and want to win. I wouldn't be very surprised if there was a general feeling in the clubhouse that Yunel needed to go. I don't think he is a Manny type cancer, but I doubt his lack of effort endeared him to many teammates over the years. Especially now that they are making a run at the playoffs.

the one part of the trade I like the lefty is legit
from Craig Calcaterra: "Tim Collins: 194 minor league innings; 294Ks, 85BBs. That's interesting. Do people hate him because he's short?"
Keith Law apparently said the reason he's not rated higher is he's tiny

This is like the Failcouer trade. Addition by subtraction. And we clear Jo Jo Reyes from the 40 man.

Tyler Pastornick: An athletic infielder, Pastornicky doesn't have flashy tools but gets the most out of what he has. He has good instincts at shortstop, along with plus range and an average arm. He's an above-average runner and basestealer, which opposing catchers quickly figured out as he swiped 57 bases between two Class A stops in 2009. Pastornicky has a line-drive stroke and projects as .275 hitter in the big leagues. The only thing he lacks is power, as he has hit just two homers in 636 pro at-bats. But as a potential top-of-the-order hitter who provides sound defense, he may not need it.
Sounds like a poor mans Elvis Andrus.
My problem is that I truly expect Yunel to have a much better second half and Alex to have a much worse second half. I think we made our team worse this year. I hope I'm wrong and Alex keeps up his power surge. If Yunel was actually that awful in the club house, then maybe he wouldn't have come around in Atlanta in the 2nd half.

Maybe the change of scenery helps A Gon's AVG? He was hitting in the AL East playing Sabathia, Shields, Lester, etc. Hopefully he produces better off of NL pitching. Likewise, Yunel now has to face that pitching. He's gonna piss him off.

If he hits .250 with 5 HR's the rest of the way and gels with the team, it's a huge plus IMO

How good is AG arm? I know not many have a cannon like Yunel but can he still gun it pretty good?

We have two solid veteran shortstops in Infante and Gonzalez for the stretch run. In the future we'll bring up Salcedo. But more importantly, Yunel and Jo Jo are gone, neither of whom have contributed to our season at all.

That's exactly how. He could very easily hit .240 with 5 hr's the rest of the year with an OBP in the .280 range, while Yunel return to his career avg of hitting .290 with 5 hr's and an OBP of .360.

Would definitely be nice to have some speed on the team. If he can put together a good year in double A next year he might have a shot in 2012.
