If Chipper doesn't retire we are gonna have to go to like $110-115 million or so on the payroll. Freeman just isn't ready, and I'm not sure he ever will be, so we kinda have to try to re-sign Glaus. He is gonna want more than the $1.75 million we are currently paying him. We are gonna need a couple of outfielders most likely, or at least 1. Schafer isn't ready either, so he isn't an option. We are gonna have to pick up Gonzalez's option too, because there just isn't anyone out there that we could get who is any better.

I agree with everything you said. Only problem is management won't expand our payroll to even 90M, yet alone 110. Our payroll this year at 82M is a freakin joke.

btw, here's how I'd do my lineup:

Prado
J Hey
Chip
B Mac
Glaus
Hinske/Diaz
Gonzalez
McLouth

with Omar seeing the starting lineup a BUNCH in the 2nd half

Keith Law on the reliever

"I like Collins, very solid middle guy, ready now or very soon. Surprised Jays gave him up."

680 the fan has been batting around the names of Corey Hart and Marlon Byrd as players that may be picked up in August. Thoughts that won't push Swampdonk any further towards swerving into oncoming traffic?

I actually screwed that up, the part about the reliever was Law but the "sounds like the Braves got a good deal" was just some random dude.

The Jays former GM, Ricciardi (spelling?), just said on ESPN that the reliever will make a quality MLB set up guy later this season or next season and that the Braves probably won this one long term.

Any chance we trade Mclouth to try and get a big outfield bat as well?

Good luck with that.
Best you can hope for is a low ceiling prospect or two.

yes, we'd get nothing for McClouth. Talk about trading low.

If they could get rid of Nate for even some middling prospects they would probably do it. I doubt the phones will be ringing off the hook at the trade deadline though.

If Ricciardi knew what he was talking about don't you think he would still be the Jays GM and not working for ESPN?

Wren is the king of that

This trade was the definition of selling low and buying high, only we did the exact opposite

With the way Yunel was playing and his attitude, I'm happy just dumping him and Jo-Jo to a team that we'll never play.
