Deal seems pretty fair and I would lean towards a slight Braves win......if you take Wood out of the deal.

Who the frick is Zach Bird?

So we are tanking and trying to get worse in the future.

That's the problem... Wood is in the deal. The Braves are getting shafted over a 30 year old "rookie" who obviously has some elbow concerns.

Position: RHP Age: 21 DOB: 07/14/1994
Bats: R Throws: R Height: 6' 4" Weight: 205 lb.
Drafted: 2012, 9th (196) - LAD
Scouting grades: Fastball: 65 | Slider: 50 | Curveball: 45 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 40 | Overall: 50
Raw and projectable when he signed for $140,000 as a Missisippi high schooler in the ninth round of the 2012 Draft, Bird needed time to adapt to pro ball. He led the Minors with 17 losses in 2014 but his stuff kicked up a notch even while he was going 2-9 in the second half.
After working in the low 90s and topping out at 95 mph with his fastball, Bird began dealing in the mid-90s and threatening triple digits. His heater has late life, too. He's still developing consistency with his secondary pitches, though his slider can reach the mid-80s with nice bit at times.
Bird doesn't display as much feel for his offspeed pitches. He's a good athlete but his delivery can get stiff and his control suffers as a result. Though he still has a long way to go to make it as a starter, the progress he made at the end of last year is encouraging.

Alex Wood since 2013: 3.10 ERA, 3.17 FIP
David Price since 2013: 3.10 ERA, 2.91 FIP
Cole Hamels since 2013: 3.19 ERA, 3.18 FIP
I mean WTF

If Bird is the "big prize" in this deal, Atlanta just got skullfricked. Their 15th ranked prospect and a 30 year old Cuban rookie who may not have a functioning elbow for a solid young starter and the #1 prospect in the organization. Something isn't adding up here.

I would say Peraza is about the 7th to 8th best prospect in the system.
I would guess the Braves value Albies, Allard, Toussaint, Fried, Wisler, Davidson all higher than Peraza.
Jenkins and Smith right there as well.

Better hope Olivera is a gahdamn monster at the big league level or this will be one of the all time worst franchise trades.
Woods numbers speak for themselves and while Peraza will never be a superstar, he'll be a very solid major league player for a long time.

Three-team deal involving #Braves, #Marlins, #Dodgers also not fully completed. ATL telling some of players involved not done.

Everything I read before the season had Peraza ranked in the top 3. Keith Law had him at 2 I think.

We better hope.
Oh, and we got shut out again tonight.

Praying something is wrong with the medical reports and this falls through

Law definitely has him behind Albies, Allard and Toussaint now. Didn't release a full mid-season list but Albies was in his top 50 and the other two were on the cusp.
I would say 4th at best. Outside of MLB Pipeline and Teddy Cahill his stock seems to be falling with everyone.
Moving him off SS and his refusal to walk have both hurt.

so damn hard to be a braves fan these days

So we gonna start hoping for 2019 now?

There's no way what we are hearing is the trade. If so, Magic literally gave Hart the AIDS.

I have faith in Hart that we got more. He has done an incredible job thus far.
