Regardless of you hatred for them, if they route VT and beat OSU, they're PROBABLY going to be in the NCG.
Even if they go undefeated and every other team has 2 losses they might not get higher than 5-6 in the computers. It's almost impossible for Boise to get in the national title game unless they can get some wedges in the computers between them and the #2 and #3 teams in the polls. They'd need Oregon State and Virginia Tech to both roll through their conferences and even then you'd have to hold off Ohio State, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. Most years the NCG has teams from the SEC, Big10, and Big12, so even having wins over the ACC and Pac10 champs probably won't get them over the champions of the other 3 leagues. This doesn't even factor in if a West Virginia ran the table with a big OOC win over LSU (or the rest of the Big East).
really, Boise would need a 2007 type scenario with Virginia Tech being Ohio State and Oregon State being LSU, then every SEC, Big10, Big12, and Big East school has 3+ losses

Then how is a team made up of BCS would-be second stringers better than the team made up of BCS first stringers? Are you saying they are good because they have a bunch of players that could have gotten schollys at BCS schools, but wouldn't have been good enough to play? By the way, most of BSUs players were not even recruited at all by BCS programs. BSU's second string is made up of guys whose other offers were to Montana and Eastern Washington.
exactly , they don't have the size overall speed and depth to compete in the ACC or Big East week in week out, they would get crushed in the SEC

It doesn't really matter. Boise will be Boise and YOU won't give them any credit. I will say this, that if they came to LSU THIS year they would beat them. They are better than alot of SEC teams, And I don't see where YOU can prove me wrong on this.

Against a lower overall Strength of Schedule.
overall is the whole year and yes USC was lower, but it could 3rd best in the country theoretically and still be lower. Their D was absolutely dominate that year and they were still playing in a BCS conference.

didn't OU score 60 like 4-5 games in a row?

Vandy and UK do not constitute a lot of SEC teams.

it can't be proven either way since it is a hypothetical.

5, plus 58 in the game before that run:
SC gave up single digits in 8 of 12 and 2 of the others they only gave up 10.

It's really not. The computers won't allow them to be in the Title game, and thats a fact

flukes happen.

you do know that even if BSU is #1 in both human polls, they likely won't make the title game, right?
that's based on purely objective data (computer polls)

K, so what kind of Playoff are you in favor of?
8 Team playoff? 6 BCS auto bids from conference Champions and 2 others get in from either BCS or non BCS conferences?

If all other top teams have 2 loses and they are unbeaten ??? BSU GETS IN!!!! So I guess TCU sucks as well???

quote:Yeah, I know. They can go 12-0 (again) and not get into the national title game (again). It's a crap system. In my system, they go 12-0, get their shot, get beat in the 1st round, and you're happy.

the "system" that keeps them out is objective. what do you have against objective measures of teams?
quote:
In my system, they go 12-0, get their shot,
it's not that simple
what if 1 team beyond 4 (or whatever your number is) goes undefeated, like 2004?
and if not, you have to assume that their schedule is strong enough to justify giving them this huge advantage in your system

the opinion is based on what happens on the field, there are too many voters for there to be a fluke winner like Villanova or the 2007 NYFG

I'm for all 11 conferences to be given the same weight in the determination of a champion.. Actually, in a perfect world, I'd rather there be 4-7 conferences put in an entirely different subdivision than the "lower" conferences but that hasn't happened yet. The fact that a team can go undefeated and have less chance in the same subdivision than a team that has lost games is ridiculous.
