My ideal system for the way the FBS conferences are set up now has more than 5 teams so no one would be left out.

whatever your cutoff, somebody with a similar resume to the final team let in, will be left out

st year's national champion was a fluke ............ in my opinion. Five teams went undefeated in the regular season. Why did only two get a chance?

then either you are so blinded by hate for the system or you really don't know anything about football if you can't see that Alabama was better. (I'm 99.99% sure its option 1).

The 2 that played in the BCS CG proved themselves over the course of the year playing better competition. I would have been fine with Cincy or TCU, but not Boise over Texas. Personally I'd prefer a 4 team playoff, but no more than that.

How many teams would you let into your playoffs?
I am for all the FBS conferences getting equal weight in determining a national champion.

You don't win your conference, you're not assured of anything. I won't feel bad for the team left out.

the objective data doesn't support your assertion

conference affiliation should have NOTHING to do with title determination in an ideal system

even if they're better than a team left out

example

who was the better team in 2005, LSU or FSU?

You could sit with a strait face and say that Boise State deserves to be in a playoff before a 1 loss Florida who lost to the National Champions?

you are technically right, but that's not a good reason to oppose a 4 team playoff

for the BCS schools

you mean the schools who produce the revenue and who have the best talent and teams?

the only schools who are relevant, for the most part

i like to reward producers, not leaches. the BCS conferences generate revenue. non-BCS programs who game the system leach off the success of the BCS conferences

We will agree to disagree then. I would absolutely HATE the idea of 7-5 Florida St. team getting a crack at the NC because they won the ACC.

Well, you can't have a subdivision with 120 teams where they are all able to play one another so you have to divide the teams. Teams are divided into conferences. If you aren't the best team in your conference, then you shouldn't get a shot at the national championship.

Better according to what criteria? I'm not sure what your question is about because LSU wasn't in the same conference as FSU. LSU didn't win their conference so, as much as I like LSU, I wouldn't feel bad for them if they didn't get a shot at the national championship.

that's completely irrelevant.

that objective data shows Bama was better, they played much tougher competition. If you were a voter, you could vote for Boise, you'd be an outlier and Bama would still be voted #1.
