the 2 go hand in hand
eh, that's debatable...there are shite ton of BCS programs that are just flat out bad to not very good. Some entire BCS conference are horrible, save 1 or 2 teams.

the closest was FSU a year or 2 ago, and they didn't come close
FSU? You lost me there...who are we talking about?

BSU REFUSES to play multiple BCS teams, and they rarely play BCS teams outside of the beginning of the year
oh i agree...that's why i was saying a non BCS team in general.

and most of these don't have that much money
revenues at the top are typically right at 1/3 TV, 1/3 gate/concessions/merch, and 1/3 booster support
your bad BCS teams will get the tv money, but the other 2/3 are just not there

fresno 2008 and 2009
played @ rutgers, wisconsin, and @UCLA in 2008
in 2009, played @ UW, @ cinci, and @Illinois
*ETA: those 6 games were all regular season games

I think he means Fresno St, I think there was a year they played 2 or 3 good BCS teams

yeah FSU in the past 2 years has played 6 BCS teams in the regular season
since 2004 i believe BSU has played 7 games against BCS teams in the regular season
and they're in teh same conference with the same financial rammifications, yet somehow FSU can get games scheduled

hmm----interesting thoughts in this thread---ALTHOUGH, since this thread even gets mentioned further proves that this BCS bowl system of ours is a sham----hypothetically, BSU could go through their shite schedule and make the *title* game----that is a problem, a big problem----give me a 4 or 6 team playoff and BSU never gets a title shot---the way it should be!!!

Which VT is this year. Taylor is just a runner......
he sucks as a QB but all he will have to do is hand the ball off to Williams and Evans they will wear Boise's D down.

right right...i thought you were saying they had scheduled well and come close to getting into the title game.
but yeah, for a while there they were backing up their claim of playing anyone anytime.

4-6 team playoff all but ensures BSU gets a title shot in most years, broseph

yeah around 2005 FSU was the media's favorite non-BCS school for this reason, and they never lived up to it
but Fresno's ability to schedule BCS teams (as well as Utah and BYU) is a main point in 1 section of my next article. BSU is an absolute fraud when it comes down to their complaints about the schedule
Posted on 8/7/10 at 11:25 am to SlowFlowPro
dont think so, they would get their shite waxed in the semi-final game---never making the *title* game---the fact that BSU can earn an automatic *title* shot with this slapdick schedule is sickening----

exactly how you don't want to reward a cream puff schedule

when have they ever been close?

the point is: it could happen. it could very well happen this year and that in my opinion is a problem----
eliminate the possibility of BSU getting an automatic title shot, that is all i am calling for bro-----

I hate mid-majors, but I'll take Boise's case in this topic:
2004: Liberty Bowl, Loss to Louisiville (44-40)
That game was an all time back-and-forth classic and that Louisville team had exactly one loss: to a top 5 Miami team in a game they led at the OB almost the entire way before Sinorice Moss had a sick punt return and the Canes woke up.
2005: MPC Bowl; Loss to Boston College (27-21)
This was by far the worst Boise team of the decade (3 regular season losses) and they still nearly beat a 9 win BC team that never lost in bowls under TOB. This was on their home field though, even though they were underdogs.
2006: Fiesta Bowl; Victory over Oklahoma (43-42 in OT)
Just want to note here that that OU team was top 10 and had exactly two losses all season: the screwjob at Oregon and the RRR by a touchdown to Texas. They were LEGIT. And Boise led them almost the entire way. Say what you want about the trick plays at the end but this was a legit win. It wasn't some fluke.
2007: Hawaii Bowl; Loss to ECU(41-38)
This is the least excusable loss of the bunch, but Chris Johnson set an NCAA bowl record with 408 all purpose yards. Yeah, he's pretty good.
2008: Poinsetta Bowl; Loss to TCU (17-16)
A one point loss to an 11-2 TCU team in an absolute war of a game that wasn't decided until the final couple minutes.
2009: Fiesta Bowl; Victory over TCU (17-10)
Only a victory over an unbeaten team who was # 3 in the polls, # 4 in the BCS and believed by many to be just as deserving if not moreso than Texas for a spot in the MNC. By the way, that TCU offense scored at least two touchdowns in every other game and at least 30 points in every other game except @Clemson (14) and @Air Force (20.)

if VT and OSU go on a tear other than losing to BSU it's theoretically possible, but not likely
i'm going to try and run out the numbers for my next article...even being #1 in both polls, the computer score will likely hurt them enough to keep them out of it (assuming there are no 2-loss teams in the top 3)

the problem Slow is, if you ever get a year like 07, which is increasingly possible given the parity in today's game, they're in. There is no way a 2 loss BCS team is going in over an undefeated Boise. And I know Hawaii was unbeaten in 07, but they don't have the pedigree (the two BCS wins), or the darling status of a Boise.

they had a WR playing QB and AD was not nearly 100% in the bowl game. they only made the bowl b/c mccoy got hurt and UT lost their last 2 games

only idiots believed this

the preseason polls this year show this
but unless that SOS jumps up, the computer rankings around 5-7 will seriously affect BSU
having a 2007 year would knock the teams toward the top down a little, which may push BSU to 3-5 in the computers, which gives them a sliver of hope. VT and OSU will need to go the frick off though

So where would BSU finish in the SEC THIS YEAR?????????????
Posted on 8/7/10 at 12:08 pm to SlowFlowPro
If BSU is so horrible, can't we just have a playoff and have BSU get beaten in the first round and you wouldn't have to worry about it? Why should people's opinions on how good BSU is be so important to the process?

If they played a full SEC slate? Behind LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
