They could be giving him oxygen via an ET tube, if they had to intubate him on the field. Commonly done as part of sequence of treatment for cardiac arrest.

Oxygen will be used with an airway adjunct such as an ET tube or LMA. If they are breathing for him with a bag valve mask they are using O2

There was a year when I was playing lacrosse two high school aged kids died in the country by taking a shot to the chest... it can hit your heart in like a one in a trillion chance and cause an arrhythmia
Like a week after this we had a game and the opposing goalie took an absolute ripper of a shot like point blank to the sternum from our absolute fastest shooter and collapsed for a minute but then got up
I know cool story bro.....
but it looked like a hit to the chest, not the head
so something cardiac would be my guess
