Well, probably should re-phrase to one of the best freshman rbs ever to do it. 1,287 yards and 18 tds (osu record) leading Ohio state to 14-0.

Clarett was the USA today offensive player of the year coming out of high school, the first true freshman to start at Ohio State in history, and lead the team to a national title his true freshman year.

he was pudgy, very slow, and not a real bruiser. he had one magical year at OSU but let's not pretend he had transcendent talent

2 and a half years after being removed from football. Still got picked in the 3rd by a stupid broncos team.

Clarett by a wide margin I believe, especially seein how his life went after that.

I mean he was the #1 RB recruit in the country in his class. Most #1 RBs are considered top level talent.

Maybe he was too "slow" but you can't take his 40 number at a combine 2 years after he left OSU and make it seem like that's a legit time. He had drug problems etc. in LA after taking the great Jim Brown's advice to fight the system.

Perrilloux never really showed out in college at all aside from a couple spot duty starts. We didn't even see him succeed in college

Wasn't he a pretty well regarded baseball prospect in high school?

Clarett because we know he was an NFL talent. Perriloux was mostly speculation. There’s a bunch of guys who were highly rated out of HS that never lived up to the hype.

Per rivals, he was the #6 RB and was actually listed as a fullback

20/32 243yds 1TD 1 Int in the SEC Championship Game

20/25 for 298yds against MTSU

Ohio Valley Conference player of the year in 2009. Through 5 games had a passer rating of 199.22

I believe RP is the bigger failure. At least MC achieved something. RP IMO had a higher ceiling than MC but couldn't get out of his own way.

IDK much about how hyped Clarett was coming out of HS

The hype coming out of Harding was enormous. Clarett had the potential to be an all time college great, at the very least.

I don't see any 30 for 30 on Ryan Perrilloux. Clarett was clearly bigger waste of talent.

Clarett used his talent to get a national championship and was an All-American. He accomplished more in a pure football sense so I have to say Perrilloux was the bigger waste. At least Clarett lived up to his promise in college, while Perrilloux failed.

How is this even debatable... Clarett actually got something out of his talent level. That automatically makes RP the answer.
