Did you watch the CFP selection show last Sunday?

interesting
I read U of H and assumed that must mean the University of Hawaii - because adding another Texas school makes little sense to me
Of course neither does Hawaii but that's the position in which the Big 12 finds itself

UConn and Cincinnati are never going to sit by and let their programs become irrelevant in non P5 conferences.
When has UConn football ever been relevant? If they were smart, they would drop back down to FCS.

Yep, and get back into the Big East.

They can add anyone they choose, it doesn't have to make geographic, cultural, or TV market sense.
You all keep forgetting the Big 12 isn't a conference in the sense that the SEC or ACC is. It's the rich kid (Texas) at the end of the street who owns the ball, his upper middle-class friend (OU), and a ragtag group of hat-in-hands (everyone else) hoping those two don't move; forcing the rest to seek out the likes of the MWC or CUSA to associate with.

Need to go after Boise St. or Colorado St.

I want to add BYU. Top 30 all time program... We could do a lot worse

2.9 million people in Utah. I don't think that is going to excite the money people. Neither would New Mexico for the same type of reasons
Memphis and Cincinnati still seem to be the obvious choices. If they really want to reach and say the hell with travel budgets they could invite SDSU and UCF

They'd have to add another, yes. Can't have 15 in football, I wouldn't imagine.
No rule saying you can't....the MAC had uneven divisions for a while.

Do Memphis/Cincinatti/Houston really draw more eyeballs than BYU though? They are in bigger states, but do they have more fans?

I confess that I'm making assumptions here but I think Tennessee and Ohio both being more football mad states than Utah make it a safe bet that they would draw a higher percentage of viewers from a bigger pie (since both states are comfortably larger than Utah)

Memphis is normally a top 10 CFB market that is occasionally in the Top 5 (like this past year). It produces a ton of D1 talent. Plus it provides a more natural fit when you have WVU in the conference.

There are a hell of a lot of Mormons, and many have money.

I'm aware of that.
In saying I doubt the ACC would do it.

supposedly just under 6.5 million in the United States (just under 2 million in Utah).
That's a decent sized minority but they don't seem to have made enriching the athletic programs of BYU a priority. Neither does Salt Lake seem to be a location where college football viewership is particularly high - correct me if I'm wrong on this but I looked and saw places like Memphis - but not SLC

Very reliable sources indicated to me that Big 12 desperately wants the Flaming Cayenne Pepper in their conference...

I honestly wish that would happen. I would be really interested to see how the university could "step up it's game" to make that jump.
