Houston, Memphis, Cincinnati, and Colorado State should all be added to the Big 12. Get to 14.
Everyone wins.

Do you even understand revenue sharing bro?

Can you show anything that supports this RE: TV viewership? I'm curious

The won a NC thing isn't very convincing to me - programs like Colorado have also won NCs over that time frame and they are a terrible program

I can show you attendance numbers for 2013. LINK

BYU 61,225
Memphis 28,537

When it comes to television rankings, BYU is in the middle of the pack and the highest non qualifying team for 2013. Their average viewership was higher than three B12 teams and roughly the same as WVU. I don't see Memphis listed.

Notre Dame would sooner join the SEC than the Big 12.

Notre Dame's first preference would either be the ACC (since they already play 5 ACC games a year) or the PAC 12 because they would play other great academic schools like Cal and UCLA in addition to their annual rivalry with Stanford and USC. With Stanford and USC being conference games, they can re-schedule Michigan as an annual non-conference game.

UH just built a new stadium and geographically it makes sense.

BYU is an independent team that actually gets to schedule intriguing matchups. Memphis is stuck play AAC teams while a big time SEC school plays less than an hour down the road.

Memphis is a top 5 CFB market in SEC country. If you don't think the Big 12 doesn't want that then I don't know what to tell you.

If you lack basic understanding of television markets, sure.

I really don't think attendance numbers matter to leagues when it comes to expansion. If it was about attendance or success instead of television markets Rutgers would not be in the Big 10.

What i was interested in knowing was whether or not there was some sort of argument for BYU in a television sense. They have been repeatedly passed over by major leagues for other options while schools like Rutgers, Colorado, Missouri, etc upgraded

And it was empty most of the season. The same reason they were left out of the Big12.

The state of Texas is so huge they cannot get a geographical team in the Big 12.

OU, OSU, UT, aggy, Arkie and LSU would be a winner division in any conference. Baylor and TCU drage the Big12 down. They gave up Nebraska and aggy and Mizzou with 70K plus stadiums for some 45K stadiums and even less TV market.

So did Tulane.

Tulane makes more geographic sense. Expands the footprint and gives them a presence in the best recruiting ground in the country. Tulane also brings its AAU membership to the table. Tulane makes more sense than Houston (although not as much as BYU and Memphis).

Houston at least averaged 32K per game (capacity at the time) a couple years ago. When was the last time Tulane averaged that much? Have they ever?

Houston has a well-known head coach for basketball, where they have historical success, and a young baseball coach who nearly made the College World Series last season.

Houston has 40,000 students and tons of alumni within Houston. Does Tulane have a fourth of that?

Houston has the potential to, at the very least, bring 40,000, 8,000, and 5,000 fans per game respectively in football, basketball, and baseball. Tulane does not.

What good is the New Orleans market when nobody there gives a frick about Tulane? Houston us up against it when it comes to joining the Big 12 thanks to UT, but Tulane stands zero chance.

If they think the added revenue form a title game will be greater than sharing revenue with another them then it makes sense. Houston is like 6th or 5th biggest tv market in the country and I think a better choice than Cinncy.

Houston was part of the old SWC and had decent attendance when they won. You get more tv sets in Houston than in Memphis.

They need BYU and Colorado St. Not U of H. How many TX teams do you need in one conference?

I'm not talking about what their preference would be.

I'm saying if ND had the proverbial a gun to his head and had to choose between the Big 12 or the SEC they would take the SEC 100% of the time.

In other words, there is no fricking way in hell ND ever joins the Big 12 b/c the Irish would call every single other P5 before them.

Hell, I think they'd be more likely to try to start their own 6 team football only conference w/BYU and some vassal schools like SMU, Tulane, and Navy before they joined the Big 12 just so they'd be able to continue to play Stanford and USC on their desired dates.

Ain't no way they'd ever lock themselves into going to places like Texas Tech, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State, or Oklahoma State every single year.

I think people think that conference realignment is the same as swapping teams in NCAA14

Nobody on here is thinking like a college president. they make these decisions, not fans or ADs, or reporters. This is about the long term. Sports teams personnel turn over 100% every 5 years. Universities' standings in the world of University Presidents do not. Geography is permanent.

Correct. Keeping this in mind, I would go for Colorado State and BYU. BYU has a high academic standing in the US, and Colorado State is a land-grant institution with good geographic location (Denver).

Both deliver moderately well in athletics as well.
