I can’t think of any that have, but when was the last time a big non-conference matchup like that was in November?
The Big Ten has several teams that aren’t afraid to schedule and have been in those big kickoff games. But those are in Arlington, Atlanta, Houston, etc.
I think Indianapolis should host one. Hell, since it’s early in the year, put it in Chicago or Green Bay. That LSU game in Lambeau was a cool affair
We (ND) have played some big home games against big name Southern teams in the not too distant past in late October and November (recent ACC agreement has bolstered it). These have been the results of playing top tier (top 20 all time, at least) Southern programs are home during the last week of October or November:
FSU in 2018 (they sucked that year and we were good and we smoked them)
Miami in 2016 (bad ND team beat a decent Miami team)
Tennessee in 2005 (good ND team kinda smoked a mediocre to bad Tennessee team)
FSU in 2003 (good FSU team obliterated a bad ND team)
Tennessee in 2001 (really good UT team beat a mediocre ND team by 10)
LSU in 1998 (decent ND team beat a bad LSU team by a FG)
FSU in 1993 (#2 ND beat #1 FSU by a TD in a game probably not as close as the score)
Tennessee in 1991 (good Tennessee team beat a good ND team by a point in South Bend - this was a great game, actually)
ND is 5 - 3 in said games over that span. The weather definitely has made a difference at times (that 2016 win against Miami, as an example), but quality of team wins out more often than not.
We get Clemson at home in November this year - would’ve been bad arse with sub-freezing temps (definitely a possibility, especially at night) and a full crowd.

I dunno but what’s that have to do with a championship
Then what the hell are you talking about?
They don't award National Championships in the cold and snow in the North...so I assume you mean't the regular season. You win the Natty throughout history by winning the Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta or in the old days Cotton...warm weather places.
What bowl game is in Michigan and Ohio that awards the National Championship ever?

Was Penn State even a B1G school back in 94?
It was their 1st year in the Big 10, cost them a shot at the National Title.

Yeah, the game should have ended in regulation without any controversy. Such bullshite

Even their win over wazzu and Ryan Leaf was seen as somewhat tainted.
Are you talking about when Leaf tried to spike the ball with 2 seconds left?

4 national championships is wayyy less embarrassing than 3 in 49 am I right?

Notre Dame, Penn State, Miami, Florida State, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Virginia Tech were all independent up until the 1990's.
And the sport was better for it.

Didn’t we kick the shite out of Wisconsin the last time we played?
Turn back the clock to 2010, baby! Difference is, Wisconsin is still a good program that is winning 10+ games and going to Rose Bowls. South Carolina is... not good?

That was a top 5 Badger game all time for me, and I've been to 3 Rose Bowls and a bunch of B1G championships.

Detroit, Minneapolis also have great indoor venues

It’s soooooooo convenient that the OP thread title says “49 seasons”, want to know why? Because if you go back just one more year to 50 seasons....it goes to 1970...want to guess who won the title in 1970??? That’s right, The Ohio State University. This thread is stupid. Randomly selecting a number like 49 seasons shows you how desperate the OP is. I could start a thread about Minnesota having more championships (7 Championships) than every school in the SEC minus Alabama.
Nebraska and Texas shared it in 70.

They deserved at least a share of the title in '94, but they dicked around with Indiana and Illinois, and it was held against them, especially when Tom Osbourne was the sentimental favorite that year.
They actually fell from #1 to #2 after beating Ohio St 63-14. Nebraska beat Colorado that same weekend 24-7 on the road.
