Is anyone better than Bob Costas at overall play by play? It doesn't matter the sport, he is just damn good at his job! Enjoying him during the baseball playoffs.

One of the all time greats but he has a tendency to talk too much over games.

Hating on all PBP announcers is one of the few things the whole of the MSB rallies around.

Costas is great at baseball play by play if the year is 1989. At that point, he still had a sense of humor and hadn’t completely morphed into an egotistical jackass screaming at the clouds.
Not true. It’s just tastes are subjective, there aren’t a lot of good ones out there and they get buried to push other people.
Don Orsillo called some TBS playoff games in the past and he got benched so that Costas could work them. Orsillo is great and Brian Anderson is good, too.
On ESPN, Boog Sciambi and Dave Fleming are excellent. But they got buried on lower-profile wild-card series so that ESPN can trot out company man Karl Ravech, a former studio host who is terrible at play by play, and the Yankees’ Michael Kay (who isn’t as good as Sciambi or Fleming) so they could give us Alex Rodriguez with him.
