Wonder how female groupies felt.

1884 providence Gray's in the national league had a two man staff and one of them quit halfway through the year.
Old Hoss Radbourn went 60-12 with 73 complete games and 1.38 era. He also started all 3 games of the first world series (NL VS AA) and only allowed 3 runs in a sweep.
Sweeney went 17-8 with 22 complete games and a 1.55 era.

Not the best ever but the early 2000s A's had Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder, and Barry Zito all dealing for a few seasons.
Hudson was just a cool baw, Mulder is tearing up the celebrity golf circuits, and Zito is undoubtedly somewhere on the west coast doing weird shite.

Gets my vote. Also had Bill Singer on staff.

This is the right answer, in my opinion. All of them won at least 15-16 games and combined ERA (2.98?) was around 1.3 below league average.
Considering the home runs and ridiculous offensive numbers of the time, it’s really impressive.

Came here to post 71 Orioles. Dodgers & Braves had good rotations as well but 71 Orioles may have been better.
I recall 68 Tigers being good but that was almost all McLain (31 wins!) & Lolich. I can’t recall the other starters.

Nevertheless, I've always thought Feller was underappreciated compared to some of the other peers..
Feller won 24,27,25 games in 3 consecutive seasons. Finished in the top 3 in MVP voting all 3 seasons.
Then spent 4 years in the War, came back leads the league in wins and strikeouts, while throwing 36 complete games & 10 shutouts.

Having 4 studs in the rotation is expensive. Braves of the 90's will be the last such staff.
All it takes really is:
2 aces in the rotation (think Schilling and Johnson)
+2 good serviceable pitchers in the rotation
Excellent closer and excellent setup or dominant lefty out of the bullpen
Solid hitting lineup (no heroes necessary -- maybe one big bopper but I'd rather he be 30+ HRs with .300 avg vs a 45 HR with .250 avg)
Excellent fielding SS + 2B and a solid CF. Very good set of catchers (bats not needed so much).
You have those things, you'll win 100 games every time.

205 for Old Hoss, which led the league.

I mean the Dodgers have a better staff right now and Trevor Bauer isn’t even included in that
Plus the Braves never really ever had a 4th stud. Usually never a 3rd stud either in the same year. The 1996 staff probably performed the best.

1997
Maddux - 19-4, 2.20, 0.946 WHIP
Glavine - 14-7, 2.96, 1.150
Neagle - 20-5, 2.97, 1.084
Smoltz - 15-12, 3.02, 1.160
All four were top 10 in both ERA and WHIP.
