Best High School Football team in Louisiana history

Last weekend a few friends and I were reminiscing our old football days and got in a heated debate about what team was the best team we’ve seen or played.
My vote for the best team was the 1990 Ruston Bearcats and as for the best team I played against was the 2002 OP Walker Chargers in the semis finals. They were coached by Frank Wilson and had over 13 DI signees and of course still couldn’t beat John Curtis in the dome.

The Istrouma / Baton Rouge High rivalry was fierce back then and carried on into the 60's.

That 1990 Ruston team had studs all over the field. I’d probdbly give them the nod as the best ever, But the next 2 years had 2 of the best 5A champions I’ve seen play. 1991 Thibodaux was loaded with talent and had to go through 2 5A powers in Ouachita and Neville to win the title. And the 1992 Carencro team with Kevin Faulk at QB and Beavers and Lazard at RB was damn strong as well. The early 90s were a great time in LA HS football.

1990 Ruston and 1999 Evangel would be a game for the ages.

Shout out to Coach Salt… that EJ championship only gets more and more impressive as time passes… maybe not the strongest champion ever (though beating McDonogh #35, North DeSoto, Warren Easton, Neville, and Karr in a row was), but not many overperformed their potential like they did.
It ain’t about how good you were, it’s about how you’re remembered

1998 or 2000 West Monroe

The 1999 Evangel vs West Monroe state championship game had over 42,000 in attendance. First time I saw the upper deck open for the games.
The John Curtis team that whipped Hoover after Hoover was ranked #1 in the country was very impressive slso
