The Saints / Packers game earlier this year is the case study of why its the right decision.

Awesome. To quote a lyrics from my favorite song:

“Let’a hear it for the boys! Let’s give the boys a hand!”

He’s not wrong. If you miss the 1st one you can still go for it and tie on the 2nd. If you kick the PAT first and miss the 2PT you just lose. If you’re gonna go for 2 at all it makes sense to go ahead and do it on the first TD

Once again the Bills offense doesn’t do enough until it’s too late…. just not enough consistency on that side of ball given the talent they are working with.

Why do college coaches have state troopers escorting them postgame, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen nfl teams do this

Or you kick both times and go to ot. But obviously they didn’t want to do that or they never would have tried the 2 pt conversion

Analytics say go for two to when missing it forces you to score and go for two to tie?
Yes.

Roughly speaking, you have a 50-50 shot at converting, as well as a roughly 50-50 shot at winning in OT. We will call kicking a gimme.

If you kick both times, you have a 50% chance to win in OT. That's fine, but we can do better.

If you kick after the first TD, you could go for 2 to win after the second, but that's the same 50% chance to win.

But if you go for 2 after the first TD, if you get it you've "won" the game because all you need is the xp after the second TD. But the other 50% where you don't convert isn't an automatic loss, because you can try again after the second TD to force overtime. So you can take that 50% and take half of it as the chance to convert the second 2pt, then half of that 25% as your chance to win in OT. That gets you another 12.5% to win, and 62.5 is more than 50.

Edit: geez way late on this

You think Allen looked like dogshit?

He led the team in rushing, again. He had over 300 yards, again. He literally is the entire team. They don’t run an offense. They never really have. They just roll the ball out to Allen and hope to win

It is...but anybody who's a fan of any team in the AFC North will tell you that is has been this way for 20+ years. The AFC North is THE toughest division in the NFL...year in and year out!! Almost every year the AFCN puts at least 2 teams into the playoffs...and on 4 of those occasions at least 3 teams have made the playoffs. This is what people don't understand about the Browns futility. Its kind of hard to get up off the mat when the other 3 teams in your division are playoff teams for the last 20 years. The Bengals are in LAST place in the AFC North right now...LAST PLACE!!! Think about that...
