This is crazy even by NBA standards.
Did someone put a gun to their head and demand they act stupid? This is completely on Philly. I have no pity for them.

But contracts are two-way streets. Simmons agreed to play for Philadelphia for the next four years so he needs to live up to that end of the bargain or be found to have materially breached the contract.

There definitely needs to be voidable actions, but again...thats on the owners for not negotiating that into these contracts at the CBA. I don't know of a situation in baseball comparable to this. Their contracts are the most similar.

If this were baseball, you would have teams willing to pay part of someone’s contract for the right to be rid of them.
The limit in the NBA is like $4m cash, which doesn’t work outside of most small contracts.

Once again, they already traded him and have been shopping him for a year. Everybody knows that. He wants a resolution and not to be a lame duck. They don't want him there either. What should he do differently?

Not act like most other players who have his agent.

I'm sympathetic that being that visibly on the trade block sucks. I'm not sympathetic of him being a gigantic wuss.

He has the biggest loser mentality I've seen in a while. Oh noes coach didn't kiss my arse after I laid down and quit during the biggest game of the year! Let him skip camp and fine the ever living frick out of him. The fact that he is demanding to be in Golden State or LA is making this all the worse. How are they supposed to get any kind of real value when most teams know he is going to pull the exact same shite with them? Funny enough Dallas would probably be the best place for him if he could give up on being the main PG b/c Jason Kidd is probably the only coach who could maybe get through to him about at least getting a 3 point shot. He's so damn hard headed about being in Cali and is making himself look like such a locker room cancer Dallas probably would laugh if Philly called.

He is a horrible fit in Dallas. Luka handles the ball, like Harden, all the time and is basically a PG..

Actually that would lock up the title for Philly...

Out of character? Who didn't see this coming a mile away?
Posted on 9/21/21 at 2:33 pm to RATeamWannabe
they have openly shopped him via media and other gm's.
I don't blame him for taking a stand.

Thank you. Finally someone speaking sense. Sixers don't want him.

It doesn't seem like a unique problem. JH did worse to the Rockets. Players have most of the power to both demand the money and control where they play. Some even play general managers

I don't follow the NBA at all, and knew Philly was shopping him to everyone and everybody, via the Media.
How could anyone blame him for saying f-you to sixers

Because he seems soft probably. We tend to prefer a strong a-hole to a weak nice guy.

Seems so out of character for him
Why didn't Philly trade this guy for James Harden when they had the opportunity to do so? Instead, they have huffed and puffed all off-season for a trade partner to get him out of Philly. Stupid timing and now they will have to let him go for much less trade value.
Posted on 9/21/21 at 3:12 pm to RATeamWannabe
Hmm sounds a lot like Aaron Rodgers
Posted on 9/21/21 at 3:18 pm to bamameister
Didn't Houston pull out right before the trade was completed? Philly had already committed to it and Simmons was gone, then it got canceled last second.
Then they contacted everyone trying to move him. But the Sixers want a Lillard or Beal type return. They have bungled this the whole time. I don't blame Simmons. I wouldn't report either. F them. I'd make them trade me and wouldn't help them get more assets from my future team..
