They were never staying in Chicago, and it has nothing to do with the city.

They're moving to Hammond Indiana... I don't think shittiness is a factor.

The Hammond Eggers, with a caricature of Bobby The Brain Heenan as their logo.

Not that big of deal. Parts of Indiana are considered suburbs of Chicago. Tons of people work in Chicago but live in Indiana due to cost of living

Economically it's a big deal. Especially when added to all the other major businesses that have left Chicago and Illinois recently

Who, funny enough, played the majority of their existence in Chicago.
And their colors were purple, gold, and white.

You don't think it's because of the taxes in the city/state? I would think it has almost everything to do with the city

New Orleans consistently records a significantly higher per capita murder rate than Chicago, even though Chicago sees a higher total volume of homicides. New Orleans' murder rate hovers around roughly 35 to 40 per 100,000 residents, whereas Chicago's rate is notably lower at about 18 to 21 per 100,000.

That’s potentially why they’re not going to Arlington Heights, but that’s not why they’re leaving the city limits of Chicago. They were always going to a place where they could own a lot of land for cheaply.

Didn't the Bears spend a ton of money on purchasing a horse race track outside Chicago a few years ago for this purpose?

This feels like a pure leverage move. Isn't the Bears administrative building in the northern suburbs? It all just seems so inconvenient for everyone.

But they are still going to be called the "Chicago" Bears? I do realize it's almost like a suburb of Chicago. But it's still technically in another state.

The site in Hammond is actually closer to downtown Chicago than Arlington Heights. Not as big of a deal as some are making it out to be. It is funny to point and laugh at retard Illinois politicians though.

They did, but the state has dragged their feet for 5 years. The Bears finally expected to have shovels in the ground in Spring 2025. Here it is June 2026 and the state legislature just delayed their vote again until the fall.

The Bears are rightfully pissed and tired of the bureaucratic red tape. Indiana's legislature got their bill for the Bears written and passed unanimously in a month.
