He probably had a prescription for it and when it ran out he did like others and faked his way to still getting it.
As an athlete he could coma in of pain and a doctor could prescribe

Either that or said “I got some better ones than the team Dr gave you”
And it’s totally possible that team employee didn’t know what he had either

You could very likely be 2 for 2 here.

I’m not one that will stand here and say addiction is a disease like cancer, because it isn’t. It’s a choice that I made and that I continue to make.
i always thought that the first step they try and teach you in NA or AA about accepting your problem was BS cause I could say it all day long.
but its doing something about and following through that is the difference.
wanting to do it and needing to do it aren't the same.
asking for help is also harder than it seems.
helping others is rewarding and it gets you out of your own head.
so many dynamics going with it all.

And the heroin has fenytnol in it which your body can’t handle and you od. Unfortunately working in a rehab, I’ve seen 15-20 in 2 years. Some a day after they leave. Crazy. The lucky ones get another chance to sober up. Some never do.

Geez...
Sorry for partying.
Sounds like somebody couldn't hold their fentanyl, oxycodone and alcohol. Amirite?

Was big pharma at the root of the problem when it started? Yes. To imply they are the issue now and still pushing opioids to an unknowing public is absurd and patently false.

I'd bet good money his wife knew something was up.

disappointing statement from Skaggs’ family
Nobody forced him to take recreational drugs - many people choose to take them. I choose to take them on occasion. But this was HIS decision.

A doctor did not prescribe a baseball player fentanyl for pain

frick no, no chance. Fentanyl is for end of life type pain.

No but he probably was prescribed oxycodone for injuries and surgery and it's possible that is what started him on this path

Addiction doesn’t discriminate

I'm saying it's being used to cut cocaine everywhere at the moment. Big news segment on it in my area a few months back even. I'm saying you can OD on fentanyl by doing a little blow at a bachelor party. S
I haven't read the whole thread yet so maybe this has been addressed but you're wrong. Fentanyl and coke are opposite of each other. Upper and downer. Heroin is being cut with fentanyl, not coke. Because it's cheaper, people are making 'oxy's and 'roxys' by using a little fentanyl with an inert substance.
No one SHOULD be cutting coke with fentanyl. Opposite desired effects.

So they can cut it and keep people happy because fentanyl feels the same, albeit much stronger.
problem is is just a wee little bit more than that wee little bit can instantly kill someone.
Your concept is correct but the drugs are wrong. People cut heroin or an inert substance with fentanyl and sell it as heroin or press it into pills that sell for $30+ each.
Coke = upper
Fentynal = Opiate/downer

Guy spent about half his career on the DL, he's clearly had issues with health and pain related to it.

I read through the rest of the thread now and saw that link that agreed with you. I hadn't heard that before an I don't get why they'd would do that.
I'm not a junkie, but I'm involved with the recovery community and spent lots of times in treatment centers and around addicts and recovered addicts. I've done my share of drugs though, and I don't understand why they'd want to cancel each other out like that. Seems counter-intuitive, but whatever...
drug addicts aren't known for their good decisions.
