Tyler Skaggs' autopsy: Fentanyl, oxycodone and alcohol led to death by choking on vomit

How does that even happen to a non homeless person?

Like Jimi. Same age too.
It's a shame that a 27 year old was addicted to pain killers.
Seems the parents are still in denial and trying to blame someone else. I can't imagine what they're going through.

We are heartbroken to learn that the passing of our beloved Tyler was the result of a combination of dangerous drugs and alcohol. That is completely out of character for someone who worked so hard to become a Major League baseball player and had a very promising future in the game he loved so much.
“We are grateful for the work of the detectives in the Southlake Police Department and their ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tyler’s death. We were shocked to learn that it may involve an employee of the Los Angeles Angels. We will not rest until we learn the truth about how Tyler came into possession of these narcotics, including who supplied them. To that end, we have hired attorney Rusty Hardin to assist us.”

Fentanyl is going to be the straw that broke the camel's back on this whole drug war. Especially if it is in high end drugs used by the rich.

I guess the Angels were right, he didn't OD

I hope you truly never have to deal with addiction in a loved one. It's heartbreaking.

So sad for the family.
I’m going to get downvoted to shite for this I’m sure, but I don’t feel bad for the dude. Drinking, opioids is a known recipe for disaster. ‘Addiction’ is a horrible thing, but IMO the individuals have to take a part of the blame along with the companies who make these drugs.

My best friend died from that crap too. He wasn’t a big league pitcher but he had a wife and friends who loved him, a great job and a ton of friends. Why people continue to get hooked on this shite is so sickening and upsetting and it needs to stop

Huh? His body was literally expelling the contents of his stomach because of what he took.

Addiction is something that can affect anyone regardless of status or age. Sucks that his life ended like this

While sad, it's also a CHOICE.
No one forces a crack pipe or a needle or pills or booze into someone's body.

Probably had an injury along the way on his journey to the big leagues. Someone gives him opioids and he gets hooked. Yeah, there's a ton of personal responsibility here, but opioids and dependence on them cause things like this.

It’s a complex issue involving things brain chemistry, highly addictive substances, genetic predispositions to addiction, etc.
It’s never as simple as they should “just stop”.

Overdoses killed more Americans last year than the entirety of the Vietnam War.
Very common cause of death.

And then turn to heroin when the prescription won't be refilled.
