He was quoted as saying he wanted to talk to the Mets management about what their plans were after they dumped their best reliever because it sure sounds like they’re giving up. I don’t think his approval will be an issue.

Yeah … if it was the Royals’ suckiness this year contributing to his record I could see it, but he’s stinking on his own merits.

Outside of Hader, which I haven’t seen anyone on the Braves threads say they don’t want, who would you like to see the Braves go pick up?

I'd love to see the Braves try and get Snell and Hader from the Padres.

The Mets are paying down his contract to $22.5 million total for the remainder of this year and next.

As I said in the game thread other night, if the Mets are selling and willing to pay down the contract the Braves need to go get Verlander. He gives you a legit #1 in the playoff rotation making every spot thereafter better.

Do the Mets want to trade so the Braves will win a World Series?

This has been my dream scenario from the beginning. Unfortunately, it appears the Padres are going to be stubborn and not sell.

That’d make us World Series favorites for sure. But, I’m pretty sure they’re both free agents after this season. Hader may have a player/club option, not sure. But with the state of our farm, I don’t think AA is going to be willing to give up the prospects it would take to get them without having at least another year of team control.

If we do a “big” deal, I think it will be for a guy/guys who are still under control for a couple years, not merely a rental. Unless the Padres come way off what they’re looking for because of that. But even still, with so many teams still in it, another more desperate one could swoop in with a better package.

Very doubtful. And Verlander has another year on his contract. You see the Mets are willing to eat a big chunk of salary in order to get a big prospect back like Acuna. Even if they were willing to trade with the Braves and eat a bunch of Verlander’s ‘24 salary, they’re gonna want AJSS and probably another prospect. I’m not sure that’s worth it for Verlander at this point in his career.

Yeah, because no contender in their right mind would want him. Stop looking at the name and start looking at the actual pitcher.

We'd be better off giving a rotation spot to AJSS than to Greinke.

He bats lefty but he is not a hitter.

ETA: Lopez is hitting .208 BA/.604 OPS in 48 ABs with 6 RBI in July.

He won't be on our roster for long.

Snell and Hader.

Like I said a couple of days ago, SD is gonna wait until the very last minute to make a decision either way. They are 5.5 out of the WC and 8.5 out in the NLW. I would think that they are gonna sell.
