Who is the most highly regarded guy he has traded at the deadline? Joey Wentz?

I wouldn’t believe that there was never going to be monster move. He was probably ready to do something to combat a big move/moves by any of our competitors. Since nobody really did anything big except the Astros, I’m fine with keeping our prospects and riding with who we’ve got and who’s coming back.

Which may make me hypocrite who’s just trying to justify it to myself.

No last-minute deals for the Braves this year. They built a lot of bullpen depth and got the backup infielder they needed over the past week.

No further trades.

Best guess at postseason roster

Acuña
Albies
Riley
Olson
Murphy
Ozuna
Rosario/Pillar
Arcia
Harris

d’Arnaud
Pillar/Rosario
Grissom
Lopez
Wall

Fried
Strider
Morton
Wright
Iglesias
Minter
Lee
Jimenez
Johnson
Hand
Yates
Elder

Maybe 13/13 in NLCS and WS. All those bench pieces though have clear roles in a short series so I assume they will go 14/12 like they did last year. Maybe Anderson or Chavez instead of Elder in the DS but assume Elder would be needed in a 7 game series. Elder probably the 4th starter and McHugh takes that long man spot if Wright isn’t back.

Dodgers get Ryan Yarborough from the Royals. LH SP. Know nothing about him besides that.

What a joke. The moves were lukewarm at best. They added a guy who is iffy as a leverage reliever and replaced a multi-DFA level utility man with a slightly warmer body.

I was really hoping to see another starter. I have concerns about Morton going down the stretch.

Why did the Braves want Hand ? He can't get anybody out.

I may be wrong, but I don’t expect much from Wright this year. Even if he makes a few starts in September, I’m not sure how much value he adds to the playoff roster.

And I think I read where they do expect to get Anderson back. I’d probably swap them.

I don’t mind having Grissom with the Braves for September and the playoffs.

He gets lefties out at a very high clip. Might give Snit a left handed guy who can help keep Minter's innings down over the next few months.

You don’t want Grissom playing SS every day but certainly a very good bench bat. I expect we’ll see him get some big league ABs in September.

Lopez is an elite defender across multiple positions and Wall is a designated base stealer.

Very good bench on paper but we definitely need to stay healthy because though these guys can play roles you don’t want any of these guys in the starting 9 except d’Arnaud.

He gets lefties out just fine. Now whether Snit can use him properly as a loogy and not try to push him out there against righties is another question entirely.

Maybe we can skip a few of his starts as long we don't let Philly or Miami creep too close.

Except left-handers and we only have 1 LH currently in the pen. And I think Minter is a weirdo who has better splits against right-handed hitters than left-handed ones.

And he had like a 2.80 ERA last year with the Phillies and has 10 postseason appearances in his career. High ERA (7.88?), but inflated by a couple bad outings. Has given up 0 runs in 6 of the 10 games he’s appeared.

And his xBA is like .188 for all batters this year. With his sweeper, I’m sure that’s even lower against left-handed hitters. And that’s all he’s going to be asked to do, come in a tight spot and get a LH guy or 2 out. That’s valuable for any pen, but especially out with the lack of LHP.

He may suck and get DFA’d in a month. But his skill set and pedigree made the very low risk with taking.

I mean, we’ve got like a million RHP in the pen. No reason to not use him strictly as a LH specialist if he proves he can’t get righties out.

One of the biggest advantages to having such a huge lead, is Snit can experiment a bit with some of these guys the next couple months and figure out what roles they’re best in. If any.
