At least both LA and Milwaukee are currently losing.
We’d only be 1.5 game back of a bye and 2 back of the top overall seed if those results hold, which makes our lack of trade movement all the more perplexing

I might be the only Braves fan who isn't losing his mind tonight. I'm disappointed, but not angry. I was more concerned about overpaying for a rental than just doing almost nothing at all to address the rotation. So I'm glad that didn't happen, but I had hoped they would get a controllable arm like Jose Soriano, and couldn't fathom we'd end up with Tyler Mahle.
But the reason I'm not angry is because I never thought we were gonna make the big "splash" that everyone wanted. We've seen that this team can't, or won't compete in the free agent market for star players. So how do they build a team, and sustain it? You need to hit on some of your prospects, and so if you're going to trade for help, it doesn't make sense to trade those prospects for rentals. And looking at the trade market, the "splash" moves were nothing but rentals.
That doesn't excuse not at least getting a guy like Soriano. I thought Wacha could have been a target, but he didn't get moved at all, which tells me the Royals didn't want to trade him. Not sure why, considering they stink and he's 35 years old. Is he really part of their future?

The negligence of the starting rotation is absolutely inexcusable, and it has been going on for years.
When this window closes, the rotation is going to be the reason we didn't win more than one World Series, and it's a problem that AA has simply chosen not to address.

Since winning 2021 World Series, Braves have only won 2 playoff games.
The Padres got not 1 but 2 quality starting pitchers and gave up much less than what we could have given up.
We've needed a dependable #2 pitcher not for the last 2 months or the next 2 months but since the start of the season.
AA neglected the obvious need of a team that could have made a lot of noise come October.
