The fact that we are still looking for replacements for Dansby and Fried tells you all you need to know about AA.

I mean he got a replacement at the position that's been fine to extremely good at times, but he hasn't really replaced the consistent presence that Freddie was in the lineup either.

He added a somewhat inconsistent bat to a lineup full of somewhat to completely inconsistent hitters.

So what's your point? If you're not mad about what happened today, you're not a Braves fan.

Also, AA just announced that Kim has been activated and Mateo DFA'd

Loving this financial flexibility we have from the lack of big off-season splashes.

So it's possible that AA just made this team worse. Losing White and Mateo (though neither are huge losses) and getting nothing in return. Very bold strategy.

So, what's the best case scenario for a playoff rotation? Spencer Strider's already cleared out his locker, but Elder has had 3 not shitty starts in a row. Schwellenbach might be back this month. I don't know, which is why I'm asking.

White is replaced by Thomas, which I would say is an improvement.

But, we got rid of Bart and Mateo for Murphy and Kim. I'd say that made us worse in that I think Bart is better than Murphy in his current state and Mateo at least gives you an elite pinch run option.

Anthopoulos was asked how disappointing it was to not land a playoff-caliber starter?

His response: "We didn't go into the deadline with the thought that we have to get this or we have to get that. We were just trying to make the team better. A few years ago, we could have gotten one of the elite starters in teh game, but Drake Baldwin would have been going out the door. That's not to say those are easy decisions. You'd like to get deals done. But there's certain asks you say 'yes' to and those are the deals that you do. And there's certain ones you say 'no' to."

Which catchers do we have in Gwinnett for when Murphy gets hurt again next week?

He won't. He hasn't even started throwing live bullpens yet. It's August. If he's depending on Schwellenbach to save the rotation in the playoffs this season, he should be run out on a fricking rail, and this is coming from someone who predicted on this board that Schwellenbach would be a top 3 Cy Young finisher going into last season.

I guess the absolute best case scenario is Schwellenbach coming back sometime in September and being an ace level pitcher. I don't believe that is realistic, so I guess I would go...

1. Sale
2. AJSS
3. Lopez
4. Elder

I'll put Sale up against anyone and feel good about it. I wouldn't like our chances against any potential playoff opponent with any of the other three. AJSS could get there with more reps this year, but right now, he can't be trusted to go more than 4 innings. Lopez and Elder are so inconsistent that I wouldn't be comfortable putting either of them on a playoff roster, much less starting them.

This is a crucial question considering they traded Bart.
Can Dubon catch? (Wish I was kidding).

The fact that #2 on here is a dude who is still recovering from surgery and has thrown just one MLB game this season really magnifies the malpractice of not getting a starter today.

Meanwhile, he’s out here saying we would’ve had to give up a Baldwin type prospect for one starter when the Padres got two starters for not much prospect capital and that included trading within the division.

AA is so full of shite.

As much as I’m enthused about the prospects, there’s no guarantee they’ll ever do much in the majors.
Really don’t see not locking up a #2 or #3 starter.
Also don’t like giving up two pinch runners. Love Jimmy Baseball, but didn’t think he’d be given the job.
