Here are the career postseason cWPA numbers for the guys who I would consider our core

Riley 22.5% (8 series)
Acuña 4.6% (7 series)
Olson 3.5% (6 series)
Murphy 2.4% (4 series)
Fried 1.6% (10 series)
Strider -3.2% (2 series)
Harris II -5.5% (2 series)
Albies -12.9% (9 series)

Not trying to start an argument because I’ve said all along we need high velo guys and not McHugh clones.
And the vast majority of our position guys are locked in for several years.
But it’s hard to look at this series and have the first thought be strengthening the pen.
We had one decent starter. And no bats. The pen was actually the only good thing we had going. And hopefully Matzek and Lee come back strong.

Ok, so who besides Arcia and Rosario need to be upgraded?

We have a top 5 player at their position everywhere else on the field.

Dude has had a huge game-winning moment in 3 out of our last 4 postseasons.

-2020: NLCS Game 1 go-ahead homer in the 9th
-2021: NLCS Game 1 walk-off (after tying the game with a homer), NLCS Game 2 tying double in the 8th.
-2023: NLDS Game 2 go-ahead homer in the 8th, finished off the double play to win the game.

Need some context to these numbers. Whats the average percentage added by a player?

Harris gets a past I guess but damn that's ugly. Strider grinded and at least he sounded upset they lost. Wouldn't have guessed Ozzie was that low.

Go all out for Trout or Soto to shore up our outfield. Hop on the phone with Bauer and see how he’d feel about a 2 year deal. Offer Ohtani something like 10/450 and a percentage of liberty media. Win 140 games next year and then find a new way to choke next October.

AA on with the Atlanta radio media today. Nothing too ground breaking. Saying he thinks with a few timely hits we could have forced a game 5. Obviously didn't hit up to reg season standards.. specifically with runners in scoring position.

Did mention they were pursuing a middle of the order RH bat at the deadline that never materialized. Wasn't Duvall he said.

I'm afraid Elder's future is as a reliever. The book is out on him.

I think Charlie's had enough. Very good farewell tour last season, in spite of the circling "predictive analytics nerd" buzzards.

Being likable can win regular season games. If I'm the ump, Snitker gets the close call 100% time against that Kapler weirdo that manages the Giants. Playoffs are different.

Elder doesn't have the velocity or stuff to be a reliever imo. He is good back of rotation guy to eat innings though. He has good mechanics too so should be pretty durable. I would take him in the 5th spot next year.

Well those 2 are a start.
And I’m not overly excited about our starters going into next season.

Because of the “two sides shouting” media reports on him, I’m not sure what to believe…but, if the Braves thoroughly vet him I wouldn’t be against them taking some of Morton’s money and signing him to say, a one-year $15 million contract with a $5 million buy out $25 million option.

The ace who more often than not shits the bed come playoff time. And the #3 who is older than Methuselah. And the #4 who is only successful if he hits his exact spot which was extremely rare the 2nd half of the season. And the #5…don’t even have a #5.
Going into the season counting on 2 pitchers and a lot of possibilities is dangerous.

Wonder if they will plug Waldrep in the MLB bullpen if he makes the team in spring. Need to sign one or two SP for that to happen. Then you have AJSS too, curious what his role will be if he makes the roster.

Wonder if they try to trade shuster or Vaughn this off-season for a Pillar upgrade.

Probably so. But he’s not proven. Which is my original point. We’re all concerned about this window where all of our offensive guys are signed for a few years. But we have only 2 proven starting pitchers. And one will be gone after 24. I’m not saying they need to sign 5 guys to long term deals. Because I do think we have some good talent that may be ready soon. But I’d like to go into the season knowing we have 3 guys that can shove it at any time. We’ll need that come playoff time again.
