Short of Ohtani or Snell, nope.
Well both are free agents, so that wouldn't work. So say AA signed Snell with the caveat that he's trading Fried. What would you say to that?

I'd wonder why he just didn't give the same deal to Fried. Weirdly enough, Snell is going to cost more but Fried is a better pitcher.

That would be an amazing situation for us.
We're not signing Snell though, so trading Fried would be dumb.

One of the dumbest takes to come out of these last two years of postseason meltdowns is that we need to change the stars on this team, because apparently they are the problem.

Reality likely is we'll keep Max to at least through the trade deadline if not doing an off-season deal. It wouldn't make sense to do anything else in that scenario and then reassess as the season progresses

Ha ha. You guys who believe Fried is a super star aren’t looking at the data and are just living off hope. I get it that sports are emotional but you gotta look at the numbers. It’s not hard to google Fried’s post season stats.
There are 6 years worth of post season data. He has a total of 19 post season starts with a record of 2-4 with ERA of 4.57. Even in the glorious run of 2021 where he clearly pitched his best he still wasn’t a sure thing. He would get bombed and then have a good one.
I know the Braves won’t trade him, although they should. But we all know when he takes the mound next October we will all be holding our breath not knowing what we will get which is no different than how we’ll feel for any of our other pitchers which is why we should handle him like any other pitcher. I’ll give you that over 30 starts in the regular season he will be our best pitcher. But the regular season is just a formality for this team in 2024. He was our best pitcher this past regular season and then he disappeared.

TIL, that Kershaw is not a superstar. Thanks Running Jacket.

Fried is a good solid pitcher who will walk after this season because he won’t be worth what his agent will demand and some other team will overpay due to their own outside situations, like the Yankees. No different than when you guys were freaking out over letting some other team pay for Dansby.
You guys are willing to forego whatever we could get for him in hopes he turns into Jack Morris or John Smoltz in October. I’m not. I have as much faith in Elder or Smith-Shawver at this point than I do Fried. The guy is simply not dependable.
And the name calling tells me you don’t have much an argument. I never mentioned Kershaw, but yeah, he ain’t Mr. October either so I wouldn’t sign him either.

Just stop. You're embarrassing yourself.

What’s embarrassing is you guys acting as if Fried has been anything but a no show in the playoffs outside of 2 starts in 2021 - which will be 3 years ago next season.
Just stop it already. We all have been watching Fried not produce so you can’t tell us are eyes are lying when we all saw him walk off the field, yet again, giving this team nothing in October.

Do you think Kershaw is/was a superstar?

I just read an article about the top 50 free agents. The author listed the top 3 teams in contention. The number of players the Braves were mentioned with were ZERO. Based simply on this..........SIGN FRIED IMMEDIATELY. We don't have a much of a choice, IMO
Posted on 11/8/23 at 1:02 pm to LSUJockStrap
Alex is never gonna get involved in rumors and let stuff leak, that's why you don't see the Braves on any of those lists.

No, you're just doubling-down and continue to embarrass yourself and bashing someone who absolutely shoved in Game 6 in '21 to deliver us a title and like someone said earlier, you're either an 11 yr.old preteen or a 70 year old boomer w/the takes that you have.
You can't pitch w/a blister dude, that's just a fact. It has nothing to do w/him being soft and not reliable, you can't pitch when your finger has an open blister. So just stop calling him soft b/c of that.

Literally the only argument you're making against him here is something he said himself.... Fried was good in October of 2021. Thats multiple seasons removed now.
