Yankee Stadium should bring out the best in Bregman. Correa's success there was mentioned. Tuve is Tuve. George needs to get his center-right approach back to really get going. We'll see if Brantley is just slumping or a postseason loser.

Has anyone else seen the Yankees using the opener? I know I heard it on MLBRadio but I haven’t seen anything else since then.

We know what Brantley is. Hopeless.

We need one of Brantley or Yordan to stop being a total zero. Would go a long way

Looking ahead to #Astros and Yankees #ALCS game 4, hopes for an issue-free game continue to fade. GFS forecast of rainfall from 8 PM-11 PM tomorrow in NYC here. Euro similar. Winds of 20-30 mph as well. I don't see how this one isn't pushed to Thursday. #TakeItBack

?

I had originally thought a rainout would benefit us by being able to skip whatever combo of Urquidy/Peacock/bullpen we would throw tomorrow but I think it actually benefits the Yankees a lot more.

They'll likely only get 4-5 innings at best out of Severino and need some length from the pen. Tomorrow was going to be a bullpen day for them. With a rainout, they'll be able to bring back Tanaka on full rest.

So with a rainout tomorrow, there won't be anymore days off in the series. Games 4 and 5 on Thursday and Friday...travel after the game Friday and then play 6/7 as scheduled on Saturday/Sunday.

The opener wouldn't be much different from what we saw on Sunday when Paxton only went 2 1/3. Then we saw 8 more pitchers. If an opener turns out that way...I'll take it!

Yankees are 11-4 using an opener, usually Green who comes in for 2 innings

Yankees need karma to play a role
quote:

In 24 starts in the regular season and playoffs since May 27, Cole is 18-0 with a 1.66 ERA and 0.79 WHIP, striking out 251 batters in 162 1/3 innings in that span. The Astros are 22-2 in those starts, including 15-0 in the times Cole has taken the ball since July 17.

You would still potentially have to win one game with a Urquidy/Peacock/bullpen combo.

3 - Tues - Cole
4 - Wed - RAINOUT
4 - Thu - Greinke (full rest)
5 - Fri - Verlander (full rest)
6 - Sat - Urquidy/Peacock/bullpen combo, or Cole on short rest
7 - Sun - Cole (full rest), or Urquidy/Peacock/bullpen combo

Or you just run the Urquidy/Peacock/bullpen combo out for game 4 on Thursday if it's rained out, and then you'll have Greinke/JV/Cole all ready to go with no one on short rest. If you win game 3 I think that's the way to go.

Ideally they pull 3/4 out of their arse. That would make things less stressful going back to Houston

Since the best-of-7 format was adopted in 1985, the team that has won Game 2 of the ALCS has advanced to the World Series 28 times in 34 series (82%), including 19 of the last 21. #Astros #Yankees

I see the game on Saturday is currently scheduled for 3. Is this set in stone or can it move to later if there is no national league game?

Boone says no Stanton tonight as Hicks will start in CF
Also, if we have a rainout Tanaka will start game 4. So if that happens then game 7 will be a bullpen game if it gets that far, or Tanaka will pitch 7 on short rest.
