Let's hope that the offense chases off severino early. Maybe the announcers will stop talking about how 'well rested' the yankees bullpen is.

MUST. WIN.

(that comment is real and not the usual DAT tomfoolery)

Also saw that they’re starting an opener and sure does allude to them wanting to go the route of what the Rays were doing and trying to keep the Astros hitters from getting comfortable with one pitcher.

If Houston can get to Severino and back to the bullpen today, it burns it for tomorrow too. The offense MUST generate runs today.

Today is the most important game so far in the series, IMO

We need to win this one either way, but It’s only important (as far as rest goes) if we play GM 4 tomorrow, IMO.

Need to jump in their bullpen early, with a bullpen game scheduled for tomorrow for them.

The more we see their bullpen guys the better I like our chances for later in the series.

Really looking for Correa to continue his explosion at the plate today. He loves hitting at Yankee Stadium (career slash line .318/.380/.591 with 4 HRs) and apparently he likes hitting Severino.

After that, Altuve, Reddick, Brantley and Yuli have all had success vs Severino.

Bregman and Springer have been about as bad as possible against him.

On the other side of the matchup, There aren't a lot of Yankees that have had success vs Cole or even very many ABs. LeMahieu has the most from their matchups in the NL together. Even before Cole was this version of himself LeMahieu couldn't hit him going 2 for 18 and 4 Ks.

Only Stanton has homered off him and has gone 3 for 10 overall.

If there is a rainout the flip side is there could be 4 games in 4 days if it goes 7, since they would just eliminate the travel day.

I just want us to get into their bullpen as fast as possible each game honestly

Which could totally backfire if we get good ABs. We play 3 days in a row, so a big game today would be have a domino effect for the next 2 games.

Eta: The key to today is to get good ABs.

I'm going to miss the first few innings while at work. I hope to walk into my house, turn on the TV, and see the Astros with a substantial lead. The offense is awake, but still a little groggy. Need to get completely reawakened today.

Huge game today with Cole taking the hill. If we can get to their bullpen then a rainout forces 4 games in a row, I really like our chances. A depeleted bullpen won't have a chance to catch their breath with no travel days.

Looking at things now I don't think they play Wednesday - Calling for 1-2 inches of rain and a Gale warning with a potential Nor'easter setting up. Boone is gonna pull a brain muscle with a rainout in the middle of the series.

The Astros have scored 3 runs in 21 innings in this series. Do you believe in miracles? Because that is what it will take. Cole ain't pitching against the rays shitty lineup. And it's also a band box where miss hit fly balls are home runs to rf.

Just anecdotally it feels like this is about the time it should be breaking out again. It would be right around a week at a time all season
