I'll catch flak for saying this, but LeBron James has been a model individual both on and off the court.

Came from nothing, works hard, international super star that stays out of trouble, is financially savvy (or at least is smart enough to surround himself with people who are), good dad and husband, etc...

Good point...I'm plotting a takeover of my company and using LeBron's work in Miami and Cleveland as a template.

LeBron James.

I aint saying there isnt drama with him, but he has his shite together off the court and is one of the best to play the game.

I agree. "Good role model" doesn't mean that the person in question also can't occasionally be an a-hole.

If that's the criteria, nobody fits it.

He's right as to what SHOULD BE, but he's wrong as to what he ACTUALLY WAS/IS.

You don't always have control over who looks up to you. It's not always up to the parents either.

I agree with your premise, but if your child is into sports, it is difficult for them not to look up to professional athletes. You can educate them and help point them in the direction of true role models, but they are going to naturally gravitate towards the successful people in the sport(s) they like.

I'm not saying it is impossible, but parents have an uphill battle.

Athletes foundations and charities

Many many players donate time and effort into giving back to their communities. We don't have to generalize everything, especially the character of individuals that share a profession.

Kawhi Leonard is well on his way. Humble guy, who just loves bball and does great community work. We shouldn't look at them as idols. Idols and role models are two different things.

Are you kidding?

Steph Curry, Tim Duncan (or, really, just close your eyes and pick a Spur ), Luke Kuechly, Drew Brees, Jimmie Johnson, Jason Witten, Lorenzo Cain....the list is pretty damn long, bruh.

If you back away from superstars only, the list of good role models is far, far longer than the list of bad ones.
